desertcart.com: Cliradex Towelettes with Tea Tree Oil Extract, 24 Count | Natural Face, Eyelash & Eyelid Cleansing Wipes to Clear Dirt & Debris that Allow Demodex Mites to Thrive : Beauty & Personal Care

Review: Cured blepharitis and chronic dry eye!!!! - I have struggled with blepharitis and chronic dry eye for about 15 years. I have tried: regular lid scrubs, warm compresses, omega-3 oils, Restasis, antihistamine drops, numerous artificial tear types, and "pulses" of steroid eye drops used for a few weeks every few months. My problems got worse and worse. It became impossible to wear my contacts. My eyelids were red and itchy, my eyes were painful and gritty and gunky. Then I read something about Demodex mites. I suffer also from rosacea and acne and have tried many things, some of which have helped and others not. When I read that people with Demodex have 10x as many mites as normal and tend to have acne, rosacea, and blepharitis, I immediately searched for a product to help me. I read about tea tree oil but was afraid to put the oil on my lids directly. That is very dangerous. I tried this product, which is formulated for the eyelids, instead. BUY THIS NOW if you have a similar story to mine! After just 2-3 weeks of using these every night on my lids, eyebrows, nose, cheeks, and rest of face (in that order -- lids first, then eyebrows, etc...), I am cured. No kidding!! I went from using artificial tears every 10-15 minutes all day every day to using them MAYBE once or twice per day now. My eyes feel amazing. My rigid gas permeable contacts are back in service, and feel just fine. I don't "notice" my eyes at all! Like when I was a kid! I don't need to use warm compresses. No more baby shampoo lid scrubs. No more antibiotic/steroid drops, antihistamine drops, NOTHING. Just wiping with Cliradex at night and leaving it on all night. That's it. It's magic. I'm so, so, so excited. I sound like an infomercial, but I'm that excited. And I am not a corporate plug. Just a really grateful woman who has suffered for years and years and is finally free!!! One small tiny downside -- these hurt and sting terribly. They really do. The first night, I had to sit down on my bathroom floor because my legs were shaking from the pain. I imagine that's the "die off" of a million bacteria and mites exploding as the tea tree oil extract in the wipes hits their disgusting little cells. It hurts. But every day gets a little less painful. Now I only have to take a few deep breaths. And the sting, no matter how severe, only lasts about 1 minute. One REALLY LONG minute, but really, it's just a minute. Then it fades and I don't feel it at all during the night. No problem leaving the residue on there. So I say to anyone who has my problems -- is manning up to one minute a day of pain that gets better every day worth being CURED of the hassle and pain of blepharitis and dry eyes? For me, that's a huge huge YES. I hope these never go out of production. I've already reordered. I want to use 2 wipes per day -- 1 for eyes and eyebrows, and one for face. I'm using 1 wipe now, and I'm focusing on eyes and eyebrows, with cheeks etc as an afterthought. Yet, my rosacea is already looking better, and I haven't had a big pimple since I started. I'm thinking using a fresh wipe on my face will improve the rosacea and breakouts just as much as it improved my eyelids. SO EXCITED about this!! Buy buy buy! UPDATED FEBRUARY 2016: I was asked a few times in the comments if these continue to help me. Yes, they do! I have been using 2 per day (1 eyelids, 1 face) ever since. My eye doctor told me not to stop because the Demodex will simply come back. You cannot get rid of them all, and almost every human has some. So, I faithfully use these wipes every night. They still sting, by the way. Not a ton, but it's definitely still uncomfortable. Again, though, no pain, no gain! My eyes still feel really great using these. I only have to use rewetting drops a few times a day, and mostly if I'm in on over-heated or over-A/C building. No pain, or gunk in my eyes. My skin has cleared up and looks the best it's looked since I was 10 years old. Still highly recommend buying these to try them out if you have dry eye!
Review: A remedy for Demodex blepharitis of the eyelids - If you have blepharitis, these are awesome eyelid wipes! Be warned that if you have even the tiniest crack in your skin which you probably do in the beginning, they will burn. But once the eyelid cracks heal the wipes don't burn anymore. They actually kill eyelash mites, whereas many other eye wipes just alleviate the symptoms. They are heavily scented as are most things with tea tree oil. I actually wipe my eyelids first, and then do my whole face, particularly around the nose and chin which are other havens for face mites aka Demodex to get up in your pores.

## Features

Our formula is extracted from tea tree oil that cleanses the eyelids, eyelashes, and face while killing some mites associated with inflamed eyelids other skin conditions.
- DEEP CLEANSING WIPES: Use it after a makeup remover to wipe away the remaining debris and residual oils. Its main component 4-Terpineol from tea tree oil penetrates deep within the skin to cleanse it.
- BACKED BY SCIENCE, MADE BY AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST, MADE IN THE USA: Dr. Tseng’s patented science-based formula isolates 4-Terpineol, the main component of tea tree oil (TTO), which is effective against eye inflammations. Using products with pure TTO directly on or around the lid margin of the eye is not safe and could cause eye irritation.
- WHAT TO EXPECT: Like any other tea tree products, you may experience a tingling sensation, which will lessen over time and with frequent use. Cliradex does not damage or dry the skin. If the feeling is too strong, you may already have compromised skin (like putting alcohol on a wound) or you may be having a reaction to the essential oil.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How often is Cliradex to be used?**
A: This product is simply the part of tea tree oil that kills the mites (they state that clearly on the box). The reason they did this is because many studies have shows tea tree oil kills this type of mite however tea tree oil around the eyes is VERY uncomfortable. Yet...this is a VERY expensive product, especially if used as directed (two wipes per day for 60 days). Over all this is a couple hundred dollars to feel better - great, if you're all good after 60 days but many need long term treatment (even if the treatment isn't as frequent such as weekly vs daily). Anyway, for anyone reading this who is looking to save money (or just doesn't have a few hundred dollars to spare) ....do some internet searching and you'll find tea tree oil has a been used in quite a few studies and is now used as a standard protocol for many MD's. The studies have shown that a mixture of 50% tea tree oil with a carrier oil (ie: 5 drops of tea tree oil with 5 drops of jojoba oil for example ... make sure you get a standard glass dropper for each type of oil). In the studies/protocol this 50/50 oil is used (after washing the face) to saturate a q-tip and make 6 strokes across the upper and lower lash line on the skin (not on the inside of the eye...mites like the eye lashes and skin). After the 6 strokes they wait 10 min and repeat two more times. This was done once a week for 6 weeks. During that 6 weeks, on a daily basis the patient in the studies was asked to use a tea tree oil face cleaner (or even shampoo on as a face cleanser) to wash the face/eyes twice daily by making 10 lateral strokes across the eye lashes before rinsing. In some studies the patient was also asked to use a tea tree oil shampoo on their head/hair daily for 6 weeks and still, in some other studies the spouse was treated (lot of variations). Some studies also asked patients to wash the sheets and/or pillow cases daily for 6 weeks but no one really knows for sure if mites survive on textiles/cloth...but it can't hurt to wash your sheets at least weekly (you should anyway). So after all of that, at follow up, 5 of 7 patients were mite free for at least 2 months, at which point the study ended. The two patients who were not mite free (in one study) were over 80yrs but still had a dramatic reduction in mites/symptoms. Mites are very common +65 years old and between 20-30 years old (hormones. oil production, region you live...all make a difference but immune system is a biggy too). Mites are rarely abundant in children but incredibly common in adults +21 years old. One study also asked patients to use tea tree oil body wash/shampoo to wash the body because these mites can also be found in the oily spots on the body....behind the knees, inside of elbows, upper back, etc. Mites were found to be most populous on eyes/eye lashes, eye brows, nose, nasolabial folds, ears and generally from the shoulders up so maybe a body wash would help...maybe not. As for the tea tree oil eye mixture, I'd caution anyone interested in this....some people find even the 50/50 mix VERY painful (and some are fine with it). Do not try to use 100% tea tree oil...very drying on the skin and the fumes are so strong the eyes just water and water so the oil doesn't really get a chance to work. The studies found 50/50 tea tree oil will kill adult mites in about 5 min. No on really understands everything we need to know about them but I wanted to share what I've learned (just using standard websites, nothing that requires a subscription or account). Cliradex makes the treatment much more convenient but is certainly much more expensive - so it just depends on what your priority is (money or time) I used the 50/50 mix on my eyes and entire face and upper body, along with shampoo and face wash (I used Body Shop but Ocusoft makes one and there are many others - as long as tea tree oil is a prominent ingredient it should be fine) every 2-4 days for about 2 weeks and I noticed an improvement. Hope this helps someone!

**Q: Did this help whiten up your eyes? I have severe dry eye which makes my eyes look bloodshot.**
A: Cliradex cleansers are for external use only. It will remove excess oils and biomaterials that are causing irritation. So indirectly, it will help remove the irritation. But this is not a "whitener." Please note that drops removing redness are not addressing the cause of irritation.

**Q: My eyeballs hurt for days after using this. my lids get red too. can i go blind from this stuff? i blot not rub when applying.**
A: Thank you for your feedback.
I want to reassure you there is nothing wrong with the product. Cliradex normally has a fresh, cooling sensation. There are two reasons why you may experience a "burning" feeling.
1 - The skin is compromised somehow. A useful analogy would be like putting alcohol on a wound.
2 - A reaction to essential oils

Here are a few tips if you have sensitive skin:
1- Avoid using Cliradex right after bathing. Skin pores may be exfoliated and are more exposed than usual.
2- Wipe gently with Cliradex.
3- Avoid direct contact with your eyes. Keep eyelids gently closed when using Cliradex.
4- Use cold compress after application.

We recommend that during the application:
1 - Closes eyes firmly without squinting too much.
2 - Gently wipe the foam across the lid and surrounding skin. Don't try to press too much on your eyelid skin or into the eye's corner (caruncle).
3 - Allow the foam to air dry briefly (30s) before opening eyes.

If your results don’t improve, then please do not continue to use Cliradex as you may have a skin allergy to essential oils.

The Cliradex Team

**Q: Do these burn your eyes?**
A: I was very much afraid of that too. But, I was desperate and willing to try it as nothing else was working. At first the burning was about a four(4) on a 1-10 scale. Now, after three(3) weeks, it is about a two(2). I keep a piece of cardboard to fan my face immediately after so the mild burn only lasts about 30 seconds. It's working so I am okay with this "discomfort".

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing wipes
*by J***N on September 21, 2025*

These wipe have been killing off my Demodex Mites. I can tell because they have been setting up shop different places around my eyes but then I kill them where they go with the Cliradex wipes. That’s why you need one entire wipe per eye. I close one eye and use the other eye to see what I’m doing. I get one entire towelette and unfold it. I wipe my eyelid and underneath the top lashes and get as many lashes wipes as I can because they’re eating my eyelashes. Then I wipe the side of my eyes, underneath my eyes, and above my eyes up to my eyebrows. Yes, it hurts. But it only hurts for about 30-60 seconds. Don’t rub your eyes or wash the medicine off because you would waste the expensive medicine and it takes less than a minute for the pain to go away. If you think you got medicine in your eyeball, then use a Q-tip to gently wipe in direction of nose on the inner lower eyelid to outer corner. After the tingling, burning, or what ever you want to call it, your eyes actually feel better than when you used the Cliradex. They feel fresh and clean. I think it’s important not to cut the towelette in half because the studies in this research uses one whole towelette per eye. The positive results were received using one whole towelette per eye. You might actually be losing money if you cut the towelette in half because you will get half the good results in a much longer time. After about 60 days, ask your doctor if you can use the towelettes once per day instead of twice per day. Then later, ask if you can use one towelette every other day. These mites have a death cycle and eventually there will be non left. So, keep calling your doctor about every 60 days to see if you can take another fading step down. Regarding the cost, I believe they can get away with it because it’s been proven scientifically to work and has patents. But I might not be able to afford them all the time. I just want to get to the mites’ death cycle and use the wipe every other day or less if my doctor agrees. They are very effective and easy to use. Try to rearrange your budget so you can afford this medication if you have Demodex Mites.
