When using the d5500 I immediately noticed the difference in size of the viewfinder between it and the d810 that I am used to. I thought this magnifying viewfinder might do the trick. I bought this as a longshot because I could not find any information on if it fit the d5500 or not. It does fit the d5500 however, the top of the lcd frame slightly rubs against the bottom of the dk21m when flipping it in and out. It does not seem to be a big deal or feel like it is going to damage the lcd or camera by having this viewfinder attached though. I can understand why Nikon does not indicate the DK21m as being compatible with the d5500 because of this. The DK21m definitely helps a lot and now, when looking through the viewfinder, its a lot less like the "looking through a dark hallway" feel of the standard d5500 eyepiece. I have been using a 24mm 2.8d lens on the d5500 for a 35mm field of view. The afd lenses do not auto focus on the d5500 because the d5500 does not have an auto focus motor built into the camera body. The magnification of the DK21M helps out a lot with manual focusing because the viewfinder image is magnified. Also, I do not have a problem seeing the viewfinder information when shooting or feel as if I have to scan around the viewfinder with my eyes to see everything in the composition. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Broken clips and hard to see edges but... *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on January 5, 2021* Clips broke on first mount. Fully broke off when removed to see how bad the damage was. Good thing is you can tell but my OCD knows. Make sure when applying, to go straight down on mount.Also you will not see your edges too well. So keep that in mind. Not impossible to see them but you have to move around the eye piece to see them.I still enjoy this. It was very easy to install, and so far, it seems to be fitting better than the basic eyepiece cover. As for performance, it works really well. It is nice to look into the viewfinder and have all of the information at the bottom of the screen be a little bit bigger and easier to read, not to mention being able to see your subject a little better. I would recommend this magnifier to everyone that wants a closer look at the subject before you release the shutter as well as seeing your camera settings a little better. I am over 60 years old, and it really makes it easier for me to get the right shot.
