## Description

This Bat System - One 12” Round Outer Bat Adapter & Six Rounded Square 7” Inserts allow for the throwing pots with a base 7” or smaller. Fits standard wheel heads with bat pin holes spaced 10" apart (measured from the centers). Each insert can be easily lifted from the insert tab in the outer bat. The outer bats are also easy to slide on and off wheel head bat pins. The outer bat is made out of an exterior-grade wood material, and is very strong and warp- and water-resistant, but it can be damaged with long-term exposure to water. To protect your bat system, do not leave outer bat or inserts sitting in water, and gently clean and dry outer bat and inserts on their sides.Additional inserts can be ordered separately from desertcart at https://www.desertcart.com/Inserts-Satin-Additional-Adapter-Potters/dp/B0764MBG57/. Review: Very happy with this - I started pottery classes and was frustrated with my bowls and mugs getting out of shape when I cut them off the bat still wet. I bought this system a year ago and I am very happy with it. I can leave my project on it wrapped in plastic and come back a week later at my next class. Then I can take it off at leather hard and cut the foot. I have had the main part warp slightly but I found that if I lay it on a flat surface and put something heavy on top it dries flat. I think it helps that I use them once a week and they have time to dry in between use. They are still in great shape and I will definitely buy them again when I need to.
Review: When 12" Plasti-bats are going for over $20 each, this is an excellent alternative! - Better than multiple pricey full-size bats, the Bleeker Bat System allows me to throw anything with less than a 7" diameter base (which is most of my work). If I have been too generous with the water, I will lift the work on its bat and allow it to dry out a bit, while working on something else (this also allows the bats to dry out, as well. The system makes for much greater efficiency in my studio. I can also cover up work with a bit of plastic if I am not going to get to it for a day or so, and delaying such work on 7" bats frees up so much more space than if I was using standard 12" bats. I also purchased a second set of inner bats (from a different vendor) to keep the work flowing. After a recent move, I have yet to find my stash of bats in storage. Now I don't need to work too hard to locate them. This system is excellent!

## Features

- EASY TO USE: Bleecker Station's Bat System is easy to use - simply lift inner bats from the insert tab in the outer bat using your fingers or a flat potter’s tool. The outer bat has holes drilled through and is also easy and to slip onto and off your pottery wheel pins. Fits standard wheel heads with pin holes spaced 10” apart on center.
- SAVE SPACE: Save precious space in your ceramics studio by drying your pots on small square inserts instead of regular round bats, which can take up a foot of space or more on your shelves.
- MORE ENJOYABLE: Masonite absorbs water allowing your pot to release itself as it dries, which is safer than cutting it off the wheel head with a wire and risk deforming or dropping it or leaving your fingerprints on the clay. Make throwing more enjoyable by eliminating the wiring off step altogether!
- SAFE: Insert tab is wide enough to prevent fingers from getting caught while throwing on the wheel.
- DURABLE: The inserts are made out of Masonite and the outer bat is made out of a water resistant, durable exterior-grade wood material. This bat system is designed to accommodate swelling from exposure to water, so unlike other bat systems the inserts should still fit into your adapter use after use. MADE IN THE USA.
- FREE: Bat Pins Included.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: For anyone that sealed their bat system: Could you name the product you used and the result? I’d like to seal the main bat before using it.**
A: More of a question than an answer. I wonder if a marine base or a water seal on just the outer ring would be the answer to the warping issue. The outer ring is subjected to more water than the inserts. Don’t seal the inserts so the clay can dry. I am considering buying this system and that is what I am thinking about.

**Q: will this fit the Speedball Artista Pottery Wheel?**
A: I was told that all pottery wheels have the pins in the same place. It fit all the ones that my studio uses. They work great too!!!

**Q: Any tips on how to make inserts fit without wobbling and making it impossible to center? I tried bits of clay in corners & soaking inserts in water.**
A: Make sure the bottom plate is completely clean and level. If this is not the problem, try bits of paper to make sure fit is tight. I have had this problem with larger amounts of clay but not with smaller pieces. After a few rotations the slip tends to settle into the bat and the centering proceeds normally..but it might take patience. I love my system but it does wobble a bit at first.

**Q: I bought this system and the bat pins are at the right place, but the holes in the bat are a tad too small for the pin heads I have. What do I do?**
A: I am reluctant to answer as I am just a student of the art, but I did experience the same thing. After every throw I would check the wing nuts and tighten just a bit. After the third throw I pushed down on the heads with moderate force and noticed they moved a bit. After the sixth throw, the heads were fully seated. I was not worried as it seemed to me on day one that the holes in the bat were accurate, only just a bit snug. I can only assume someone else has a better answer. But for this beginner, all worked out fine.

### ⭐ Worse than useless
*by M***H on February 21, 2026*

I purchased this set in 2020 and again in 2025. The set I got in 2025 is made of far inferior material that is not resistant to water at all and the clay doesn't easily stick to it and they can't really be cleaned. The bats eventually began to disintegrate and ruined several hundred pounds of reclaim clay with little bits of shredded wood. I can't even get my money back for this garbage because it started falling apart outside of the return window. I strongly recommend against this now disastrous product that is a liability to anyone using it.
