I suspect you could refill these with diluted Apple Cider Vinegar and unscented dish soap to break the surface tension like the Sodium Lauryl Sulfate does. Seems a waste to throw them out without experimenting. **Q: Will this work with knats in the house ?** A: It worked for me. Had a bunch of them around my cats food and litter box.
