I’m not sure what ‘kills old rust’ means and how it affects paintwork.** A: No, you don’t have to sand it, just brush off loose dirt. A layer of dust helps key it to the metal. It doesn’t harm the paint, but does tend to creep up the face of the paintwork, so needs wiping off occasionally. How is it best applied and it will it leave a smooth clear coat finish? Thanks** A: Waxoyl is not a transparent paint and would not be suitable for application to a bicycle frame. It has a gooey consistancy similar to runny jam or thick cream when being applied and stays flexible for long periods. It is superb for protecting steel items subjected to adverse, wet conditions such as motor car underside mechanical components. I use a hand spray gun or paint brush for application. Not suitable for human contact after application; it becomes messy if handled and would not be kind to clothing. Try a high quality enamel paint over a good metal primer. **Q: Would it be advisable to spray the underside of my caravan which is thick ply with fixed metal attachments like corner steadies, motor mover drive etc** A: Hi, metal ,yes.
