Great concept, but lacks in too many places

I want to say that the amount of liquid you can store in this, along with how well it fits on my aero bars is great. That is where my good review ends. First, the straws. You get 2 straws that go to the bottom of each chamber. You then get rubber straw extensions that you place over the straws and can cut to whatever length suits you. In theory this is good, but the straw extensions don't stay on too well, and my first race with them I hit a bump while taking a drink and the extension popped right off. I wasn't surprised, because any connection that is not air tight and can have condensation on plastic, will cause what seems to be a tight fit to be loose. I just wish I realized that before I lost the straw extension and couldn't drink my sports drink during my bike leg of the race. The next thing I will address is quick...securing the bottle from moving. There are 2 rubber bands and some other items for securing the bottle. They work, no complaints. Now, one thing that really was appealing was the fact that you can refill the chambers while you are on the move, assuming you have a water station handing out water. Well, I tried this and I lost more liquid from splashing out than I ended up drinking. Not only that, but good thing it was just water at that time, because it was soaking my handle bars and cycling computer. It didn't cause anything to malfunction, but I wasn't really expecting to have my handle bars give me the experience of biking in the rain. Profile does give you items to place in the chambers to prevent splashing out from the liquid. However, this basically negates the refill use. Very poor design.I don't give this lower than 3 stars though because thanks to a some supplies form Home Depot, I have correct the issues myself.

Excellent for endurance biking (aero bars required)

I use this Aqua Cell system on my Tri bike. I really like the product. I was required to purchase the holder/mount for it separately. It required some trial and error to properly fit it to the bike but once the mount is fitted then it stays put. The Aqua Cell has two separate drink containers. The smaller of the two inserts into the bigger one. It can be used for holding a different drink or as a frozen insert to keep your drink cold. Most of the time I just filled them with the same carbo drink. The goods:1) easy to refill while riding. The caps have a slotted foam top into which you push the nipple of a standard drink bottle through. You can do this and stay in the aero position. Splashing of your drink is limited by a plastic netting (almost like a loufa) that you place under the cap. This way you wont lose your drink through the slotted cap (or only a very small amount) when the bottle is full.2) it is right in front of you so it constantly reminds you to hydrate while riding3) sturdy and secure mounting. The mount uses two industrial style rubber bands (thick). Additionally, there are Velcro tabs that stick the bottle to the mount (you still need the rubber bands though)The not so goods:1) on occasion the insert bottle will raise up out of the bigger bottle. To minimize this, drink from the bigger bottle first otherwise the small bottle is effectively trapping air under a liquid and thus it will want to float up. There is a fair amount of friction holding the insert inside the bigger bottle but on average it would pop up about an inch. (not a big deal - just letting you know that it happens)2) If you like to make your own carbo drinks (juice blends etc) please be advised that fruit mash (pulp) will cling to the inside of the straw and is very difficult to clean out. I switched to pulp free orange juice and stopped liquidizing bananas because of this. A q-tip and several dunks in hot water was the best way i found to clean the straws. Had no problems with store bought drinks...All in all, I think this is a superior product. I used it on every ride, I cleaned it regularly in warm soapy water and it has stood up to the environment (i.e. the plastic has not turned brittle in the blazing sun). It's durable and I highly recommend it. Oh... I bought it after I asked another biker at a race who had one said it was a good piece of kit!! Enjoy!

    Convenient but wears out quickly

Got about 3.5 months of use out of this before it developed a slow leak in the base of the larger compartment, possibly from rubbing on my gatorskin tires when it gets jostled out of place on bigger bumps. Now that I'm less than a month from my first Ironman and this is the only aerobar option I'm seeing with 2 separate fuel chambers, I'm reluctantly back buying a replacement because going back to the drawing board is likely to jeopardize my fueling strategy and I don't have that many long rides left for refinement. After the race, I'll be spending quality time refining bottle grabs from the bike frame, behind saddle, camelbak backpacks, etc. to have more options next time. Some things that might extend the life of your bottle or make it a little less annoying to use--1. The packaging claims the bottle is dishwasher safe (but not its accessories) but I would stick with hand washing. You might want to soak it in sanitizer like that used for brewing equipment because you won't be able to effectively access all the crannies and your mesh netting splash guard thing will turn into a science experiment if you don't rinse thoroughly immediately after your ride.2. Don't fill the bottle on the bike when you are transporting it somewhere on a bike rack. I carry a gallon of water and a water bottle of fuel/electrolyte mix in my vehicle and fill it immediately before the ride. Bike racks often hold the bike at weird angles and cause extra leaking.3. I also carry wipes (i.e. clorox bleach) to wipe off the front of the bike and break pads as there is some splashing and frosting the front of your bike with syrup can make it really hard to clean once it is dry. I found that wrapping the foam puck that covers the smaller container cut down on the mess a lot, since I don't need to be able to fast fill it through the top enough to justify the splashing that comes with an easy fill foam top.4. I'm going to experiment with this "Universal Aerodrink Bracket" on this next one even though my handlebars were narrow enough to house the bottle, it still bounced around and created a lot of annoying noise.Good luck!
