It's a perfect buy for anyone who would love to delve more into the meaning of verses in the Bible without the knowledge of the biblical languages. It's a refreshing experience, and IMO well worth the purchase price. As for the Kindle edition - this is actually a perfect way to read the Amplified version. The paperback version is very thick, and very tightly bound, and I've never used it as much as I would like to. It's absolutely wonderful to be able very easily flip through the Bible, find the relevant passages, etc, without having to struggle with thin pages bound tightly together, or to cope with the sheer weight of the paperback edition. All the pluses of the paperback, none of the minuses. Brilliant. But it you can't afford a more expensive edition, this is a useful addition to your library. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Compact) Zondervan Amplified Bible *by D***E on 29 May 2014* This bible is very well made, and exceeded my expectations for the price paid. The text is a real 57 variety mixture, but a top quality bean nonetheless. The provenance of this bible is assured, a compilation of the usual Greek sources, through Hebraica-Stuttgartensia to NIV, KJV and finally, the 27th Nestle-Alland texts augmented by modern Aramaic texts. Beat that! The amplified nature of the text is very useful to me as a person who reads and studies bible texts. After only ten minutes I had successfully used the text to shed great light upon texts (Matthew 11:12 for example) which have so many possible meanings and translations, and essays written about them, that I was beginning to feel weighed down! Also see Mark 4:12, Luke 24:47 and John 3:7 (15:1-10). To make it a little clearer, however, do not buy this text for reading; it is not poetic like the KJV, but a great reference text. Reading it is jolly frustrating because it is hard to read due to the abundant inclusions and additional meanings written into and referenced by the text itself. The book is pocket sized, and slightly larger than an 'oath' bible. So good to carry to your scripture class; and as I have said, not so good for reading aloud or following in church as you will tend to get side-tracked... Recommend for study purposes.
