Such as an Eichler style home or midcentury modern.** A: Yes I put one in at a conceret slab home, for stackable washer dryer that was added to a closet. Ran drain up and over to toilet vent pipe to drain it. Works great **Q: why do i need a vent to pump utility sink to outside ?** A: The pump will pull extra air to help force the water out without pulling it through the intake line...so it doesn't suck the water out of the utility sink. Normally a regular drain will pull air in through the vent line so that the water flows properly and does not pull a vacuum. It is a functional and code requirement. If this is only for a utility sink...not in a bathroom or regular plumbing situation...then you can just install a one-way air valve that can be found in any home improvement store. This will just keep it from sucking stuff into the pump. Just note that this may not meet code and I believe the instructions say not to do this. I can't understand why, as long as it has a fresh air supply. So, I've added back a couple of stars for that, but it's not a 5-star product if you can't rely on it to keep working for at least a year.When this works, it's great. You can put a shower anywhere and not worry about it. But when it fails, as it did in my shower, the 2-year warranty might not be worth anything.I've been calling and emailing Saniflo for days now during what the company's recorded phone message says are its regular business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, eastern. The phone message says that the company is closed and to leave a message or call back during "regular business hours," which, of course, is when I've been calling.I assume that the company has curtailed business due to the pandemic. That's understandable. A great number of businesses are struggling right now. The first pump received was damaged during shipping. Amazon made the replacement trouble free. The replacement pump was in good shape. The shipping package overall is not very good for a pump mainly made of plastic. The pump was in a small just fit cardboard box with no space for packing material nor outside box for double protection.The second pump has been working fine with lower noise and vibration than expected. Very happy about that.The kits including everything that needs for the plumbing connections near the pump. You need buy other plumbing parts for the hook up. However, the parts came with the kits are not good quality. The elbow and pipe clamps are slow leaking after connected together.
