Review: Aside from dimensions, exactly what you ordered - Dimensions of the products I received were: 4.224"x4.260"x0.006" or for you metric folk 107.29mm x 108.20mm x 0.15mm. The dimensions seemed somewhat arbitrary, so it may vary per order. The "quantization error" of the thickness measurement is pretty high, so keep that in mind. The product comes with a small card made to test sunglasses with. Adding everything up, I would guess that this comes from a 3rd party vendor that purchases scrap pieces from manufacturing, and sells the 4x4ish cuts on desertcart with the card. I haven't looked into it, so I could very well be wrong about that last point. The material seems a bit roughly treated at first, with small scratches all over. I didn't bother showing a picture because the scratches only exist on the protective film layer. As stated, the product comes with a protective film. You can see the quantum mechanics at play; I did not remove the film for the perpendicular sheet picture in which the card shows through. After removing the film, it is nearly impossible to see through the sheets. Keep in mind the sheets come slightly curved, so my "black out" picture may have shown some slight off-axis characteristics. I can assure you that holding these perpendicular will ward visible light to a very high degree. On that note, (as you have probably noticed by now), the sheets are linearly polarized. You can see the direction in the sunglasses picture. To clarify, the polarization axes run along the dimension which curves. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to throw this in a spectrometer, but I'm confident this would meet or exceed the stated specs. Hope this helps.
Review: Scratches on the material - If you are wanting to use this for microscopy, cameras, etc. I wouldnt buy it, It came with scratches over the surface of the material. For other uses though the film works.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used to test gemstones**
A: Short answer: yes.
Long answer: It depends. Yes, this material can be used to provide the polarization component of a dichroscope or polariscope if you are want to build one yourself and use it to identify certain properties of gemstones. However, in many cases, you will also want magnification which these will not provide alone.

**Q: What is the thickness of this filter. It says 0.2", so it is about 5.08 mm? Or is is 0.2 mm, like other films available in Amazon**
A: It is 0.2

**Q: Can this be used for dash cam and will heat from sun coming through windshield have an effect?**
A: I did not buy this polarizer for photographic or camera work, but I would expect that it would work for a dash cam. This polarizer is a thin sheet of plastic film, so heat possibly could have an effect.

**Q: Does this film have adhesive on one side?**
A: Hi! Thanks for your question. No, this grade does not have an adhesive layer, but our high temperature grade does.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Scratches on the material
*by A***C on February 23, 2019*

If you are wanting to use this for microscopy, cameras, etc. I wouldnt buy it, It came with scratches over the surface of the material. For other uses though the film works.

### ⭐ Extremely low quality
*by A***R on September 21, 2018*

The filter came with very visible scratches making it useless for most purposes. It cannot be used for photography since it distorts sunlight.
