## Description

Product Description Positioning By Zones, Stay Connected to Your Home Zone positioning offers significant advantages over PIR sensors by monitoring rooms of up to 40㎡ (ca. 430 sq ft), and dividing them into up to 30 zones. It is suitable for variety of use cases based on the actual presence, which makes the automation configuration simpler than ever before. The FP2 supports detecting up to 5 people simultaneously, ideal for multi-occupant households. It's versatile for home automation, security, and energy management. Additionally, its AI Person Detection feature filters out interference like robot vacuums and pets, ensuring reliable alerts. 1>N, Why Is It Revolutionary? Captures Slightest Movements with Maximum Privacy Stay Proactive When Someone Falls Down Local Automations AI Sleep Monitoring You will not need several sensors to detect different areas within a room, and careful configuration of each sensor. With FP2, you will get multiple PIR sensors and even one extra light sensor. By implementing mmwave radar technology, the FP2 provides precise detection, even for the slightest of movements. It is also recording-free and wearable-free, ensuring maximum privacy for users. By mounting the FP2 on the ceiling and activating the Falling Detection mode, it will detect and alert you through the app as soon as someone falls, which will minimize the risk of injury. Wi-Fi doesn't mean being dependent on the cloud. The FP2 can easily execute automations locally, ensuring uninterrupted operation even without an internet connection. The FP2 offers independent sleep monitoring without wearables. It provides real-time tracking of heart & respiratory rates, with historical reports for insights. The built-in light sensor allows for advanced automations based on illuminance levels. It supports wall mounting, ceiling installation (only for Falling Detection), and angle adjustment. The sensor can be installed in humid environments such as bathrooms and outdoors under a roof. The latest update introduces a new installation method enabling placement in the corner of a room. Wake-Up automations that don't bother others The FP2 can detect, if someone is still in bed, and the Wake-Up automation will not be triggered in case another person wakes up. Accent lighting that follows you The lighting can now follow you around the room: only the lights near you will turn on, while other lights will turn off one you leave the area. Review: Finally, a sensor that actually knows I'm there! - I've been using the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 for a few weeks now and honestly it's on a different level compared to the old PIR motion sensors I used to use. Those basic sensors always leave me sitting in the dark if I don't move enough while reading or watching telly but this thing uses mmWave technology which means it can see me even if I'm just breathing. It's properly clever how it tracks multiple people at once and you can set up different zones in a single room. The setup was a bit fiddly in the app at first because you have to map out your room and define where the furniture is located. I did struggle a bit with some 'ghost' detections where it thought someone was in the room when it was empty but moving the sensor away from a rotating fan fixed that. It's much more sensitive than a standard motion detector so you have to be careful with placement. One of the best bits is that it works as a light sensor too so I can automate my curtains and lights based on how bright it is in the lounge. Since it's mains powered with a USB cable you don't have to worry about batteries dying every few months which is a massive plus for me though it does mean you have a wire trailing down the wall if you don't hide it well. When you compare this to a traditional PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor the pros are obvious as you get way more detail and no 'timeout' when you're still. However the cons are that it's much more expensive and requires a constant power source whereas a PIR can live on a coin battery for a year and is tiny. If you just need a light to pop on in a cupboard stick with a PIR but for a smart living room this FP2 is the way to go. There is also a fall detection feature which is great for peace of mind if you have elderly relatives living with you although I haven't had to rely on that yet thank goodness. It integrates perfectly with my HomeKit setup and the lag is almost non-existent. Overall I'm really chuffed with it despite the slightly steep price tag.
Review: As usual with Aqara it's not all bells and whistles - The sales is telling you it provides zone detection, fall detection, etc. Yes, it does. Not at the same time tho. If it's ceiling mounted, there's no zone detection but you do get fall detection. In wall mount setting, there's no fall detection but you do get zone detection. Ghosting is a problem. Interference is a problem. Detection angle is a problem. It's better than a motion detector, it's faster in response than most wireless motion detectors, reliability is questionable. I have set up 3 of these. 1 in the living room, 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the home office. All of them monitor both presence and light and connected with Homekit. If I enter a region and it's dark enough, the corresponding lights come on, if I enter a different region, old lights should turn off. Usually this works nice but sometimes a "ghost" is left in the previous area causing the lights to stay on or even turn on when nobody is there. My partner is 5'11" and around 55kg, this presence sensor sometimes doesn't recognise her causing the lights to turn off. So it's not accurate. App is okay, got used to it as I'm using Aqara for a longer period now. The detection zone's mimum size is 50cm*50cm (1.6feet*1.6feet). Overall, if you're happy tweeking a bit with Apple Home (write simple scripts), it can be a powerful ally. Way better than Hue/Eve motion sensors. To give you an example: If you don't want the sensor to turn things off and if you use light bulbs which can be app controled and dimmed (Hue, IKEA Tradfri, whatever), you may want to check if it's on or even better what's the percentage setting on it before turning it off by leaving the zone. This can be achieved by basic scripting. Allow some delay before turning everything on and check the value again before turning it off to ensure less detection errors occur. This may also give a nice extra to your lighting setup.

## Features

- [Zone Positioning] The Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 (2.4GHz Wi-Fi REQUIRED) offers significant advantages over PIR infrared motion sensors by using a single radar sensor to monitor rooms of up to 40 m² (430 sq ft). You can also divide it into up to 30 zones, such as sofa, bed or desktop, etc. and set up individual automations for each zone. It is like having several PIR sensors at the same time with one Presence Sensor FP2. Please note: the FP2 is a wired sensor that should be constantly powered.
- [Multi-Person & Fall Detection] The FP2 can simultaneously detect up to 5 people and trigger different scenarios and automation. Moreover, you can mount the FP2 on the ceiling and choose the Falling Detection Mode, which will detect and alert you through the app if someone falls. (Note: The FP2 is not a medical device, and can only be used for notification purposes)
- [Multi-Ecosystem Support] The Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 is exposed as multiple sensors to HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home and Home Assistant. (Note: The device can be added directly to Home Assistant using HomeKit Controller integration) You can integrate the sensor easily without requiring an Aqara hub, which is a great solution for smart home enthusiasts.
- [Ultra-High Precision with More Privacy] By implementing millimeter-wave radar technology, the Presence Sensor FP2 provides precise detection of movement without producing false negatives, even for slight movements. Also, the detection does not require a camera monitoring system, maximizing privacy for users. Also, thanks to its IPX5, the FP2 can also be installed in wet environments such as bathrooms.
- [Built-In Light Sensor & Local Automations] Additionally, the FP2 has a built-in light sensor, which provides greater flexibility and enjoyment when creating lighting automations (Only available in Aqara Home, HomeKit, and IFTTT). Moreover, automations of FP2 are executed without sending to the cloud and will keep working even if there is no internet connection.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it make any difference if I use it with an Aqara hub or just connecting it to my Alexa zigbee hub?**
A: The fp2 presence is a WiFi device and not a zigbee device

**Q: I believe the aqara fp2 has only just been released (2023) yet there are many older q&a’s here. are most of the answers for an old version, so wrong?**
A: The older version is the fp1 but was only mainly available in China.

**Q: Says can be used in a bathroom yet who has a socket in the bathroom? this is not allowed in uk.. shame it has to be mains connected. any workarounds?**
A: Socket outlets should not be permitted in bathrooms or shower rooms (apart from shaver-supply units). This is unless they can be fitted a minimum distance of three metres from the bath or shower.
I would speak with an electrician, you could get one fitted provided you can find an acceptable zone for it to be placed in.

**Q: Can FP2 sensor be used outdoor?**
A: Sorry that’s a no
They have no ip rating and are for internal use only😁👍
