After watching David Pogue's video review, I was impressed enough to drop $200 on Dragon, as transcribing audio files is a huge part of my job and I thought even passable dictation software could save me hours.This product did not provide passable transcription. All I wanted was something that caught most words; I wasn't expecting 100-percent accuracy. Most mp3s I fed into the program produced nothing but gibberish, and while the audio source wasn't crystal clear, it was certainly strong enough - think two people sitting at a table talking, each a few feet from the recorder - to expect some better results. Here's a transcription example from a conversation recorded just in the manner described above:"Okay I don't find you and supply areas for improvement (. You in question writing story just Stephen the so I talked instead of the The sheep? Him: you: so from from percent here."I tried training the program, or course, but to call it a slow learner would be an understatement. Frequently, I would spend 15 minutes training the program, correcting each sentence in minute detail.
