You can't really get an accurate impression of its size from the photo but, as another reviewer has said, it is surprisingly small: 23mm wide and 10mm deep. I always have a small tin in my work bag with some items in it that can be useful if me, or someone else, needs, say, a plaster, a needle and thread, a 'spare' fiver, a micro-torch - you get the idea. This thread is a great addition. It's very very strong but no thicker than a robust cotton thread. I've just suspended two chairs from it and there is no problem with the weight. Just don't try pulling it apart with your hands! The spool arrived quickly and I have no hesitation in recommending this product very highly.
