I am a sucker for an age gap romance and grumpy/sunshine, but this was my first time reading a single dad trope and Elsie does it justice. The amount of love and selflessness Cade Eaton has (while still being so grumpy) is just addictive to read about. He is a caretaker through and through and would do anything for his family. The way Willa Grant meets Cade for the first time was such a cute intro to her personality (aside from what we saw in Reckless) and made me so excited to have an entire book about her. She is so care free, fun loving, and no nonsense, even though she does have some self doubt she hides away. She is fiercely protective over the people she loves, and that’s something her and Cade can agree on. I love when she stood up to Cade on night one of her job and set the tone for how he was going to treat her for the summer. We get some glimpses of Cade slowly falling for Willa even though he’s trying to not let himself go there for various reasons. But the build up and the tension was insanely perfect! The late night front porch scene has been on replay in my head since I read it for the first time. So 5/5 stars for everything about Cade and Willa’s relationship. The biggest star of the show was how Willa loves Luke like he needs. Giving him attention and affection and so much love that every child needs and deserves. They pulled at my heartstrings in almost every interaction. The pool scene was the moment I think we all fell in love with Willa! Overall, this story was one of my favorites for this year so far. The most important detail regarding the nanny is, if the child approves and Luke is totally smitten. Luke is a miniature Cade. Adorable, 5 year old and thinks the world of his dad. Cade’s a good man, brother, son and father. His son Luke is his world. At his core, Cade is a caretaker, selfless with a big heart. He also has a wonderful relationship with his family. There’s nothing to dislike about Cade. Willa’s a good person also, loyal and has a big heart. They have great banters together. She keeps him on his toes. This has so many things that I like in a story. Because you’re too ___ special to pass up.” Whew! Elsie Silver can write a book with all the things! This single dad/nanny, grumpy x sunshine story was PERFECTION! It was HOT, steamy, humorous, and heart-felt! It was a small town romance & then some! It’s worth a million ⭐️s! Cade Eaton is a grumpy, over-protective dad looking for someone to care for his son, Luke, over the summer so he can care for his family ranch. He is picky and needs a nanny that will focus on Luke and isn’t trying to apply for the job of his wife. Enter Willa. The much younger Willa was personally vetted by Summer, Cade’s soon to be sister-in-law. She is certain Willa and Cade will hate each other enough to avoid complications. Willa is a fiery, ball-busting, mouthy red head and Cade has quite the mouth himself 🥵😉… which is how these two eventually combust into a spicy, romantic mess of feelings and more! I loved everything about Cade and Willa’s relationship! Their banter was second to none with Willa goading Cade is so many ways! Watching the “always in control” cowboy lose it had me laughing and smiling from start to finish! Her ability to bring out the fun and fire in him was heartwarming & the way he cared for her had me melting all over the page! But, my favorite thing about Elsie’s books is the way she makes it a robust, well rounded love story! Willa’s care and love for Luke grows exponentially and their relationship is so very special. Her ferocity to protect him and show him he can depend on her becomes unbreakable, making Cade fall more deeply in love…realizing he may not be heartless after all. Heartless is a HOT, heart-felt, small-town, grumpy x sunshine, nanny/single dad, age gap romance and SO MUCH MORE! The Eaton boys are absolutely some of my favorites to watch fall in love and Elsie writes their women with such perfection! The family dynamic of the Eaton boys (and Jasper) is something I look forward to reading with much anticipation!
