Sanding alone started to lighten the surrounding wood while leaving the centre of the stain visible, so I needed something that treated the discolouration rather than simply removing more material. Thanks** A: GRP isn't wood. If the source of the stain is external it can only be fine sanded out. There is a chance however that this is fixed into the finish doe to poor laminating skills. Acetone is the only thing that would clean right back down to the gel coat and not effect the body. If it's in the gel coat itself it's there for life.
