I had wooden bed slats that were constantly slipping off and so I would have to pull them back to be on top of the metal ridge supporting them. Making things worse is that I have a bedjet powerlayer adjustable bed frame on top, so that was no easy feat. But this bunkie board totally solved my problems here. Assembly was super simple and the rubberized connections make the bed super quiet. It feels very supportive. The hardest thing to do was to lift off and on my powerlayer but that that is no fault of the bunkie board. The only caution I have is to make sure your ridge or whatever this will sit is wide enough and your measurements are correct. The board just sits flush on the inner edges of the ridges in my case but it’s important to that the right width here. Anyway the quality and durability of this board seems outstanding after months of use. If you are concerned because there is space between the slats and it isn't solid, I use this bunkie board with a cheap foam mattress and haven't had any issues (daily use). **Q: Can this be use with bed frame that doesn't use a box spring** A: Yes, that is why I bought the frame. The width is slightly less than the ledge the bed slats sit on, so we kept the bed slats, and placed the bunkie board on the slats. It works as a box spring replacement perfectly well. The beds we have are antiques, and the slats kept getting spit out, usually around midnight, and dumping the poor sleeper onto the floor with a loud BANG! Discovering that the slats had shrunk in our dry climate (Colorado) and the head board 'leg' was loose causing a slow, creeping, bow legged effect which drifted the side rail outward as the weight on the mattress pushed down/outward and the slats suddenly lost purchase. We remedied this by screwing the slats to the frame-ledge before adding the bunkie board. The bunkie boards are sturdy, don't rattle and now that we've screwed the loose parts down, everyone sleeps through the night without 'sudden relocation'. Assembly is easy. The second box arrived looking like it'd been through a shredder, and it wasn't until assembling the parts that I found some mangled corners. but I was able to bend the two mangled corners back into place with a pair of simple pliers (I'm a 60 yr old woman, so we're not talking about a beefy welding wizard here). My hubby was supposed to help, but he was on a business trip with the second one arrived, so I huffed and puffed the assembly solo. The instructions are blessedly simple and it doesn't take long at all. And the huffing and puffing was due to manhandling the mattress onto the bed by myself. The bunkie board I simply assembled on top of the bed slats - no lifting required, and the room was too small to do it anywhere else.
