Cheers! **Q: Is there a way to install a sample port in the fermenter while also using the tank cover?** A: I haven't used a sample port, but the cover has a velcro flap on the front to let you see inside. You could probably install it there. **Q: can you make mead in this?** A: You can make mead, beer, wine, cider, kombucha etc in The Catalyst, this product is only the cover for the Catalyst Fermentation System. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One stop fermenter *by J***L on May 22, 2020* Great fermenter. Easy to use. Decants right out of the fermenter to the keg with minimal sediment. I have read other reviews where brewers were disappointed because it did not seem to reduce the volume of trub. The solution is to leave the valve open on the bottom with a twelve once wide mouth mason jar attached. Spent yeast / trub collects in the jar leaving the sides clean. Then, with the added stopcock, it is simple to dispense to the keg without a separate racking cane. Bottom valve should be left open to mason jar during brewing. If you open it add the end, it sends an aerating cloud of spent yeast into your brew making an unnecessary side clinging mess. This fermenter has proven so clean, I have not needed to transfer to secondary as long as the described technique is used. Supplemental stopcock is great, but plastic is hard, so use care when drilling to avoid chips. Best fermenter I have tried. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Additional to your Fermenter! *by R***T on March 23, 2020* Perfect addition to the Catalyst Fermentation System; makes lifting it pretty simple, and helps to keep that wort warm. Make sure you put it on BEFORE you have the bottom trap valve attached and have dumped your wort into the system :) One of those "oh, crap" moments :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great addition to your Craft A Brew Fermenter *by J***. on March 9, 2024* You'll want to purchase this item to add to your brewing with the Craft A Brew Fermenter. I found the cover helps stabilize the tub a bit more in the frame, and helps prevent it from sliding around. There are velcro tabs which you can attach to the frame and really keep things from moving around. I found the cover is a little difficult to slide onto around the tub, but overall is good to have.
