I was using my Samsung 980 PRO without any kind of heatsink, and noticed temps spiking to ~80C during data transfer. This reduced temps massively. This drive was near the bottom of the case and had intake airflow over it so I figured that would be good enough, but apparently not. For the price this seems very quality, too. The top is ridged unlike some others, and there are thermal pads on both sides.
