It included a complete tool set that has all you need to practice, and no further purchases are required. Don’t need to borrow the tools anymore from my supervisor. It came with 7 nylon threads, which you can always purchase more if needed later on. Good quality tool set and storage case keeps things compactly organized. Has pre-cut wounds and sufficient space for additional cuts. I was able to expand existing wounds and make additional cuts of my choice on the side of the pad to practice other various injury scenarios. There are other “pocket size” pads out there that are too small and do not allow for that flexibility. Good value. Some other brands sell pads and tools separately which adds up in cost, in this case you get all you need in one product and great price! It has everything u need to close a deep wound that requires stiching. You put the needle into the needle holder and with the other hand use the forceps to gather the tissue you want to suture. Look into other sutures though make sure they are sterile. For deeper wounds you need absorbable sutures. For skin closure you can use either absorbable or nonabsorbable. Also look into surgical staples. Practice how to suture and if God forbid situation calls for it you'll be self sufficient. The main problem would be lack of anesthesia. **Q: Purchased before Christmas, received an email about receiving additional suture threads and haven’t received anything???** A: I haven’t either and I’m curious to know why **Q: Do you need to have some suturing skills before getting this?
