Those with an F150 with the 5.4 Triton 3v know where that oil filter lives makes it difficult to remove with the conventional strap type wrench. I am able to stretch my arm up in there, but trying to grip and twist it loose by hand is getting harder to do each time I need to. Looked at several of this type, and for the price, figured this was the hot setup. It arrived, and upon inspection, noticed the spring orientation and how other's were having problems with it coming detatched. I easily modified the spring at each end with some needlenose pliers, bending the hook shape slightly to now have a 90° retainer under the hole to prevent unwanted detachment. I checked this tool for fitment on the Motorcraft fl80s filter on my shelf slated for my next oil change, fits and grips perfectly, I'm very pleased with this new tool, just have to wait till my next oil change to deal the deal. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for 04-08 5.4L F150 *by D***D on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2018* I've owned my 2006 F150 since new and have dreaded oil changes since the beginning because of the contortion required to remove the oil filter. . I had to hammer a screwdriver through the first one because I didn't have the Ford wrench and couldn't get it off w/ a strapwrench or a belt and I'd already drained the oil. If you own one and have done an oil change, you know what I'm talking about.This thing worked fantastic. I used a long reach extension and popped the filter loose without any trouble. I just wish I had bought this years ago. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Little Tool, Watch the Spring Though *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2014* This is a great tool for aiding in stubborn oil filter removal. Basically, its a set of jaws that clamps onto an oil filter, and using a 3/8 breaker bar or ratchet, allows you to torque the filter off easier than by hand. Its only used for removal, don't try to use it for install.The one complaint I had was the spring that came with the tool that holds the jaws shut. The spring flew out when i opened and closed the tool to test it, nearly poking my eye out. Not sure if its a common problem, but after fiddling with the spring, i gave up. I ended up replacing it with a couple keychain hooks and some elastic bands. I added enough bands to keep good tension and eliminate the risk of flying springs.I will upload a picture of what I did.Just as a note, this fits larger oil filters. There is a smaller filter wrench that works with standard car sized filters. I'd suggest getting both and replacing the spring on both. Both work great adn don't slip.
