The product works with an existing finish so if the scratches have left areas without the finish it has nothing to work on. The product is not for use as a stain. **Q: Can I use on veneer?** A: Yes you can. I have a walnut vaneer chest of drawers and it’s came up lovely. Clearly, the vaneer should not be lacquered (high gloss) as the product can not penetrate that. **Q: Can i put this on my wood work tops** A: This product works on existing finishes like lacquer or varnish as long as they are not polyurethane.
