Review: First class Performance and Support Services - Used in conjunction with less-expensive Velop 6E units as slaves. Amazing (1 Gbps on WiFi6) performance between rooms (horizontally) , but vertical range massively limited by re-inforced concrete slabs. Excellent after sales support showed how to either daisy chain or alternatively backhaul the slaves to the Velop 7 Master (with 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports)
Review: Adding to a pre-existing network? BE VERY CAUTIOUS - If you're thinking of buying this to add to a pre-existing system, BE VERY CAREFUL. Hoping to add this node to improve a Linksys system comprising two routers just 3 years old, I thought I couldn't go wrong. BUT TWO DAYS OF SWEATY FRUSTRATION LATER, I'm strangely reassured to find it's impossible. The problem is poor back compatibility. My Linksys M8400s use "Intelligent Mesh". The Velop Pro 7 uses "Cognitive Mesh". And the two don't play happily. If you make the Velop Pro 7 the parent node, the Apple TV stops working. (Don't worry: I spent an afternoon fiddling with WPA settings, on the phone to Apple and Linksys, but gave up). If you make the Velop Pro 7 a child node, it seems not to connect, and certainly doesn't improve coverage. So it's going back to its maker, I've lost two days of my life, and learned a little about security protocols. Above all, I've learned that networks are painful!
