I had a new flat and office job, with a west-facing window and virtually no window respectively. I have had very severe SAD in the past at uni, waking up at 2-3pm at its height (and I HATE lying in!), and though it has never come back that badly since having the discipline of a 9-5 job, I had always worked in a very sunny office and was very concerned about my SAD returning. After several winters umming and ahing I decided to take the plunge.I don't know why no other products are made to automatically come on in the morning, as this seems to be the most probable function of a product like this, but it was not difficult to decide which Lightbox to try first.My only issue is that it looks and feels very cheap given that you're paying well over £100 for it. You can't really see in the picture but it's actually made of that awful silver shiny plastic, that you would expect of electronics at the bottom of the price scale. I thought it was going to at least be a matte grey with something of an old school computer look to it. It's also very lightweight, meaning you have to hold the whole unit down in order to push a button, and then it makes a knocking sound as the unit is so hollow. My flatmate purchased a different product (without the automation function) and I have to say the light his produced was noticeably warmer and brighter; and he equally found it solved his SAD.All that aside, the product does do exactly what it says on the tin, which is to program, set to ON and forget, and remove my SAD completely. I can confidently say that this took me straight through the winter with no undue depression, lack of ability to get out of bed, lack of focus, etc. Sunny days became a bonus, rather than something you're constantly hoping for. It is not that difficult to program; frankly if an 'engineer' can't get it then I feel sorry for whoever is employing him. Can only do days of the week, weekdays, weekend, once only but not Mon and Wed to Sat. as I need so have to select all days of week then remember to cancel it on the days I don't need it and put it back on when I do. ### ⭐⭐⭐ getting up is a little easier now *by D***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 January 2014* I definitely find it a bit easier to get up in the dark mornings. It helps with SAD but it will still be difficult to wake up if you haven't had enough sleep. It isn't intuitive to use,and I know my partner will never learn how to use it as he doesn't read instructions. Construction is a bit cheap feeling.
