What could be the reason for this?** A: Gusts of wind can cause short-term temperature fluctuations, which can lead to incorrect switching. Other triggers can also be exhaust air openings in the house wall or animals in the detection area. **Q: Why does the motion detector not achieve the specified maximum range?** A: For technical reasons, PIR sensors react best in a tangential direction of movement (parallel to the sensor). If the direction of movement is radial (towards the sensor), the detection range is reduced. **Q: Is the sensor waterproof?** A: The motion sensor is protected against splash water (IP54) and can therefore be installed outdoors without any problems. **Q: How high can I mount the motion detector?** A: The mounting height can be between 1.8 and 4 metres. A little expensive but I expect it will last longer and perform better than cheaper products. This model has two settings, a 5m semi-circle which works perfectly and a 12m setting of a more complex sensor "shape" illustrated in the manual. The result of the "shape" is that it is not 12m head on and I have found it difficult to selectively mask the 45deg 12m peaks against unwanted detection. I'm not criticising that characteristic as it is described in the manual but it needs to be understood if a 12m range is wanted. If an 8m semi-circle would suit consider this model...
