The distilled water is so clear, also to one gallon of water I add 1 teaspoon of 40,000 volts of liquid electrolyte I can't taste it and the water is perfect. Putting hot water into the unit helps it work faster it doesn't take so long to heat up. I turn the unit off before the glass container is full and leave half an inch of water in the bottom that way the distilled water doesn't have an off taste because of the cooked-on minerals and other impurities at the bottom. Also no more using plastic to store water or food is a plus I haven't bought any water for a long time now that saves me a bundle. I store my water in a two-gallon glass container with a stainless steel sprocket at the bottom (pic). Also, it says it turns itself off in four hours so I filled it to the top above the suggested water line thinking I didn't have to be around to turn it off early and that there would be water left in the bottom well not! as long as there is water in the distiller it keeps running so my glass container ran over and the water had a funny taste from the burned on residue. Buy this you will be satisfied it's easy to use I'm a 75-year-old lady if I can do it so can you. Water does have a slight sauna taste, most likely because the boiler heats up too fast or too hot. I might have gone for a less expensive model, the price for this is a bit high. Update: using zero filtered water instead of tap made a difference in that sauna taste.
