I measured ahead of time and I needed a 15". It was a perfect 15", maybe 1/2" wiggle room. 2. The fabric. I've not slept on this yet as I am preparing my motorhome right now. So I can not comment on the "noise" that some are complaining about until after I move in. I will update you. But after giving it a quick test, it was so comfortable, that it passed with flying colors, in my opinion. The material felt like it was a high-end hotel sheet.
