It does a decent job of applying paint. However, the problem is the paint from the roller ALWAYS bleeds under the guard on to the adjacent surface you are trying to keep clean. Even on the very first pass after cleaning the guard off. At least with the Sherwin-Williams Pro Mar 200 flat paint I was using, it was not possible to get thorough coverage and avoid getting paint on the wrong side of the guard. The only place I could use it was above door/window casing or above upper cabinets.
