Hence upgrade to the Green Genie 24000. BIG MISTAKE.Even with just my original 6,500lph pump the filter overflowed, the water just couldn't flow out quickly enough. It turns out that filters of this type are meant to return water directly to the pond using the rigid PVC outflow pipes, whereas my pond was using a pair of 5m 38mm hoses attached to the PCV outflows. For some reason, this worked ok with the GG12500 but not so with the GG24000, maybe because the larger spray bar offered less resistance so my pump was working more efficiently.The only way I could get the GG24000 not to overflow was to limit the water entering the filter by using the 'Vari-Flow' on the inlet, leaving me in a worse position than before (the idea was to get more water flowing through the filter per hour, not less!).I called the seller, they couldn't think why the filter wasn't emptying fast enough - the outflow tubes shouldn't be an issue as long as the water is always running downhill. Sadly they couldn't offer a solution. Nor could they offer me a return and refund as it was now a used item. So I was £170 out of pocket.So be wary of buying this kind of filter unless you're sure that it will work with your pond (without the benefit of trying it first!).I'm now using a pressurised filter, All Pond Solutions PFC-20000, with an All Pond Solutions AquaEco 8000 pump. This filter/pump combo cleared my pond in 4 days and is absolutely brilliant.
