We tested it on our two dogs — both chipped within the past 4 years — and it immediately picked up both numbers! We ran it over our kitten, who we know is not yet chipped, and nothing! We also tested it on one stray to find out they do not have a chip — they’re now our foster! It’s affordable and does its job. I did think it was a little funny someone had returned it, because it had a chip already scanned three times within its history, but whatever.
