## Description

Nothing looks like a Steinberger and nothing performs like one either! The Spirit GT-PRO guitar features the same distinctive body-shape as the award-winning Steinberger GL Series and features the trademark “headless" design with the patented double Ball tuning system. Add to that, a 3-piece hard Maple neck going completely through the body reinforced with an adjustable truss rod and this guitar is not only stable, it's practically indestructible.

Review: Great guitar - This guitar is actually great. If you need a travel axe this thing is perfect. It’s very portable and pretty comfortable to play in a seat, like on a couch. The neck feels very good, and the sound from the pickups is very fair considering the price. It came pretty much ready to play out of the box, so I appreciate that I was able to test it right away. Then I did my full setup: new strings (I use 9’s, the guitar came setup with 10’s); conditioned the fretboard; and lowered the action (the string height from factory setup was probably fine for most people, but I prefer a lower action, and since my strings a little lighter as well, i can get a little lower on the height, so this was mostly a matter of preference). No truss adjustment was necessary. I get no buzzing on the fretboard at all (string 6 is roughly .05-.06” high, string 1 about .04-.05 high). The whole thing feels pretty sturdy and rugged. The little fold-out kick-stand leg rest thingy feels pretty sturdy also, and is very useful. String change was probably the easiest I’ve ever done on a guitar- The bridge system is so smartly designed. Overall, I’m impressed and very happy with this guitar. I look forward to it being my travel companion. Make sure when you order strings, they’re “double ball” or designed for the Steinberger system.

This guitar is actually great. If you need a travel axe this thing is perfect. It’s very portable and pretty comfortable to play in a seat, like on a couch. I used to have a Steinberger XP2 bass years ago and could kick myself for selling it. That said, I know the quality of Steinberger instruments and it is very high. I recently took a new job where I travel quite a bit. I had a Speedster travel guitar, hated it and and quickly sold it. I'm reluctant to take a full sized guitar on flights for obvious reasons. So, I started looking around for other travel guitars again. I thought about getting one of the $99 Fender Squier Mini guitars but I wanted something that I was going to actually like playing a lot. Then, I thought back to my old XP2 bass and how compact it was and how I really loved playing it. Bingo! Get a Steinberger! I found a used Steinberger Spirit GT Pro at the local Guitar Center and took it home only to find the truss rod was broken. So I took it back. Amazon to the rescue! I found this sweet white Spirit GT Pro Deluxe for about $50 more than what I paid for the used one at GC, I ordered it with 1 day delivery because I'm going out of town again and it arrived yesterday. It's perfect!! It came very well packaged (two boxes+bubble wrap+styrofoam inserts+padded gig bag) and was damn near already in tune. I tuned it up and checked the neck and intonation...the neck was perfect and the intonation is dead on!! The pickups are good enough for what I do (practice at home and travel) so I may not swap those out for some Pearly Gates...at least not yet. Don't get me wrong, the pickups are good and will do the job, they're just not "great". The action was already set nice and low so no changes or setup needed. The guitar came with the padded gig bag, a 6' cable (junk), a couple of allen wrenches, tremolo bar, and a Synapse owner's manual (WTF?). Bottom line, this Spirit is everything I was expecting it to be and I wouldn't hesitate to get another. So, if you travel a bit and want a good guitar for the road, getcha one!!
