A charming read-to-me snowy story, from M Christina Butler, author of The Smiley Snowman & One Snowy Night . Beautiful atmospheric artwork, from Frank Endersby, which is further enhanced by a sparkly textured finish to selected snowy bits throughout, starting on the front cover! From the back cover:- 'When Little Deer wakes one morning everything is covered in snow. He can't even find any grass to nibble! Squirrel and Rabbit can't wait to go out to play but Little Deer isn't so sure he likes the strange, cold slippery snow...' Hardback edition/2010/Little Tiger Press Measuring in around 26.5 cm x 28.5 cm, a colourful and endearing cover picture opens to 24 thick and easy-to-turn pages, in the popular 2-page spread format. Good sized text, including speech......and...... enhanced in places, FOR EFFECT! Example of text:- 'Little Deer peeped out of his bed and blinked in the morning sunshine. "Yikes!" he squeaked. "Where's everything gone?" Everywhere looked different. The wood was covered with a huge white blanket. Just then Rabbit came skidding over, shouting, "Snow! Snow! Look at the snow!" "Yippeee!" Squirrel cried, jumping out of a pine tree. "What's happened?" squeaked Little Deer. "Where's all the grass gone?".......' But the apprehensive Little Deer is soon reassured by his friends and is even persuaded to venture a little further! It does become a bit of a precarious first outing in the white stuff, but, don't worry - no real harm done! Although Little Deer has decided he has had quite enough, he is persuaded to help his friends begin the building of a snowman........which gets a little hard to manage - shall we say - and then they all find themselves learning to skate! A reassuring story, especially for little ones.
