I leave this in the tub all the time (other than when we are using it) and after experimenting with how much to open the grill it seems to keep the chlorine at a good level. I still have to shock the tub, obviously, and also after heavy use (particularly by the kids!) I still put chlorine granolas in to give it a boost but this does the trick most of the time. Excellent little piece of equipment. It comes with a few dip sticks, which is fine but you'll use them quickly, and some chlorine tablets but you'll find you'll be buying more of each quite quickly and better to buy these in larger bulk save cost.
