What I learned is that the generally accepted best method is to have anchor points on the floor both in front of and behind each wheel, then run a strap from those anchors over each tire and cinch them down tight. For that reason, I settled on these straps, and I am quite pleased with the purchase. Everything about them seems to be heavy duty. Strong hooks, strong ratchet mechanism, and strong, thick and wide straps. I also really like the rubber blocks that slide on the strap and have little protrusions that sit down in the tire tread. 3 blocks per strap, and a wide strong strap. Once they are positioned and cinched down tight, I don't see any way they are coming off the tire. If you use good heavy duty anchor points, these will cinch down and actually compress the tire a small amount. In fact I recently discovered that after a day of off roading, the tires will be hot and slightly larger in diameter. You will want to really crank down on them, as they will "shrink" every so slightly as they cool off on the way home, and the straps will loosen just a bit. Even not knowing that, straps stayed in place and nothing moved.
