I wanted to mainly review the size because, as some people might know, the dock plug doubles as a portable charger, but if you're trying to store this in a case, then the dock plug is too large for the main carry cases on the market. Trying to store the Nintendo charger inside the case puts way too much pressure on the Switch. I'm currently using the Hestia Goods case with room for the Switch, games, controllers, extra set of controllers, and a cable (see photos). This charger just fits in place of the cable. I had already researched the voltage and amperage output on the native charger, and they match this one: 5V, 2.6/3A. The best feature of the Switch is its portability, and a charger that stays with the device is preferable to storing and traveling with the plug separately. Because the Switch's main charger is plugged into it's dock (and hidden well behind with all the cables for my television), we really needed a charger for quick charges on the go. The desertcartBasics charger works well to charge our Switch for short periods of time while we're out and about. It allows us to charge the Switch while we're playing, and doesn't seem to heat up the Switch any more than it normally does during normal play. The cable seems durable, and the plug is slim to allow for it to be carried in most carrying cases along with the Switch. Would I use this to replace the original charger? Probably not. Works well especially if you have an older product that is not compatible with the new triple voltage “Fast Chargers” Note that the end of this Charger is the newer USB Tyoe C oval plug so you may need a USB Type C Female to USB Type A or B male adapter to use with what is the old standard USB.
