Review: Best portable game system for gamers who have to travel - Wow so this thing is pretty awesome. It is practically a mini laptop with a controller support integrated in. I travel for work a lot so airplane rides are ridiculously long and boring after a while. So that's where this thing comes in at. It works pretty good at playing a lot of not so demanding games out there and a lot of older and previous games that I'm replaying and enjoying. That nostalgia factor. One of the great things about it is that it used USB type C to charge it so I can plug it into a portable battery and am good to go until I get to where I'm going so I can charge it up. The battery life is fairly decent. on it. If you lower your graphics and do a few tweaks with the integrated graphics then you can get even longer battery life. The controller built it works surprisingly well ended up getting an app on steam called Controller Companion and you can manually map controls to games or just go subscribe to ones that are already made by other people and it works. Not every game that was made has controller support built into it so if definitely helps in making the gaming more comfortable. So far I've played shooters, third person shooters and even Strategy games on it. I've played only a few games so far because I've only had it for about a week. I've been able to play Resident Evil 5, Halo CE, Command & Conquer 3, Halo Wars, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout NV, and project 64 on it without any real issues. if you want to know if it will run whatever game you are thinking about running on it just Google "GPD WIN 2 xxx" on google and you will most likely find an answer. Mouse support does work out when trying to game. The keyboard is actually pretty neat. the WASD keys are slightly larger then the others so that you can feel them with your fingers in case you are playing with those. the left analog stick is programmed to function as the WASD keys. One of the downsides is that the thing does get rather hot in my hand. Not so hot as to where you can't hold it in your hands, but it can be felt. But it doesn't bother me. I've also seen and heard of some games that don't want to go into full screen properly. I actually had this problem with Project 64 so I just played in in Windowed mode and it works just fine. I can assume that could be the fix for any other games that have that problem. I'm going to try that out. One of the things I hope for the next version is that they make the sides in the shape of a controller so if will be more comfortable to hold in my hand and just feel right. I wish I had a camera so that I could make a video review and post it but sadly I don't have one. Overall though I think it is a great system and idea. Honestly I think there is an untapped market out there for this kind of potential gaming. I think if the right manufacturer put the time and effort into this area then they could make some money. But it would have to be small. Something people could play in the car, bus, plane, walking without it being too big to hold in your hands. I really hope my review can help out people. This is the first one that I've done that is this extensive. I will come back and provide more details as time goes on with this thing. Maybe even post some pictures.
Review: Best handheld, hands down - I had been looking at this thing for quite a while but was put off by the price, doing a lot of research to make sure it would be worth it. So when I finally had the money for it, I took the chance. The 720p display on it is very crisp, making some of these games look better than they do on my desktop's 1080p monitor. Keyboard took a little adjusting to get used to but it's comfortable and more in line with pre-smartphone phone keyboards. Both thumb sticks feel great, as do the face buttons and d-pad. The triggers and bumpers on the other hand have more of a click to them and feel similar to mouse buttons, which is understandable given that's what they're for in mouse mode, but it still feels a bit weird to play games with. The face buttons unfortunately cannot be remapped in mouse mode but I did learn that that mode is specifically meant for games with no gamepad support, as the left stick is mapped to WASD. In terms of performance, this thing is amazing for its small form. I was able to run Fallout New Vegas at 60fps on medium settings, so far the only game I have had troubles with has been Sonic Generations but that's mostly a config and gamepad issue rather than a performance one. The downside to this is the battery will last you about as long as a Switch's battery, as it only lasts roughly two hours from a full charge when playing more demanding games like New Vegas. The only other downside to this system I can think of (aside from hard drive space) isn't even with the system itself, but rather how some games need to be launched with the system in gamepad mode in order to register gamepad input. Overall, it's a very solid system and I would highly recommend it if you have the money and the price doesn't put you off.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do we get into the bios?**
A: Hello. Press and hold the "DEL" button immediately when you power it on.

**Q: What's the life span of the batteries if they are not replaceable?**
A: Actually the batteries are replaceable but please do not worry, one battery can be used at least 5 years. And then you could buy a new battery if you want to

**Q: can we import this in india**
A: Yes, sure, we can ship it to India

**Q: Has any one used both the win 2 and the micro pc? im curious which is best for thumb typing?**
A: GPD Win 2 is awful for typing anything longer than a couple sentences. They keyboard is just in that right size where it’s too small to use 2 hands comfortably, but two big to use just one. Having said that you could easily hook up a keyboard (wired or wireless) if necessary. The other problem is there’s no backlit keyboard, so typing is doubly hard at night or in a dark room. Micro PC would likely be the same.

The new GPD Win Max coming out in a while may be slightly better, as it’s slightly bigger and will have a backlit keyboard. It’ll still likely never be something you’d want to have to type on though.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely know what you're getting. With that being said, a fantastic device.
*by C***S on October 6, 2020*

The GPD Win 2 is definitely a niche device, but very fun to play around with. I bought one because I have always had a fascination with miniature technology and Windows gaming. Right off the bat, I will say that the device right out of the box gets very warm, between the CPU and SSD. You will definitely want to research undervolting/overclocking to get the best performance and temps out of your device. I also recommend the "Third Party Cooling Mod" to make the device waayyyyy cooler and much more comfortable to play. Also don't expect to get fantastic performance from every game that the manufacturers advertise- you can play last-gen or older games at 60fps with resolution tweaks, but anything modern-gen that's graphically intensive is going to choke. Overall, I definitely enjoy this device and recommend to anyone who wants an ultra-portable, comfortable Windows gaming experience. Battery life is great, 4-5 hours depending on the intesity of the game, and you can disable the bloatier parts of Windows using ShutUp10 for even snappier performance.
