It's rubber but won't last more than 6 yrs? Please explain why.** A: My guess is because it is not solid rubber, but, rather, an amalgamated rubber product. Over the years and the seasons, there may be some loosening of whatever holds it together. I have used this type of edger for decades, and some sections that got hard wear have had to be replaced. However, I can't complain about its durability, since some of the original edging is still in place and doing its job. A dog can shred it pretty easily - a neighbor’s dog clawed sections out from my property under the fence and destroyed them. Neighbor thought that was funny; so I replaced the edging with railroad ties bumped up against my side of the fence. The older edging was lined with a weed-proof material. So the application of such a material to the bottom of the edging may extend its life. Good luck. **Q: reviews are stating only 1 of 4 rolls were shipped; what is the status on the # of rolls for the price listed?** A: There should be 4 rolls per shipment. **Q: could you advise me on the thickness?** A: It’s about a 1/4 of an inch thick. It’s pretty sturdy. **Q: Has anyone used this under a wood fence?** A: Absolutely. Great mowing edge - especially where I have rocks edging the garden and a good separation between lawn and garden. Looks great too. The texture is a bit different, so we'll see. After about 8 years I did have a problem with some grass/plant roots growing through the side in spots and small shoots popping up. It was a simple matter of lifting up that section, removing the roots and I was good for another year. After years of sun, snow, mowing and weed-wacking, it is showing it's age, but some of it will still be usable in the back yard.. Gave it 4 Stars because I don't know if it is as good. and I'm slightly aggravated. DO NOT order from the " other offers" to save a few dollars.
