With the auto tracking function as long as the camera see movements it will auto follow the subject, great if there is blind spots for static camera.The solar panel does top up the internal battery and since the battery itself will last weeks without charging, as long as the panel has direct sun light every other week it will keeps it going. The test will be winter months when there is no direct sun for weeks on end. If that happens we can use a powerbank and top up the battery as needed.The phone app is not the easiest to use but all the basic function of CCTV is available, a lot of the AI and advance feature is available only if you pay subscriptions so we just install a 32gb micro SD card and store files locally in the camera. Motion detection still works without subs and I can still view footage away from home using the phone app and cell data.The 2k footage is clear and there are still a lot of details when zoomed in. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good camera *by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2024* Price at review: £74.99On the face of it this is a really good camera, it has good quality images, the night vision and range is great. It has a cute little face and it pans and tilts inquisitively and has a wide range of movement.It is absolutely packed full of features and especially useful is the human detection which is so much better than pure motion detection because it only kicks off when someone is actually near your property. It also has a cool follow mode where it turns to follow whoever is in the frame to let them fully know they are being recorded. Optionally it also can turn on its glowing headlight eyes and make an alarm sound if you want.The solar is awesome and the cable is long enough that I could mount the camera on one side of the house and the panel on the south facing wall. So far the battery is staying up in the 90% range.So why am I not giving this 5 stars?The first thing I don't like is that it sends everything over the internet via the manufacturers servers and it doesn't use encryption while it is doing this either. Even when you are on the same WiFi network as your camera it sends everything out of your broadband router to the server and then back again so you can see it.Most of the advanced features require a subscription. I would prefer to be able to use it without logging in or having to have a subscription and just use it on my WiFi directly. If the manufacturer goes out of business it will likely become completely useless overnight.The second problem is that even with the motion detection turned off and the human detection turned on, it still reacts to movement and pans and tilts to look at it. This means when it is, for example, raining or leaves are moving in the wind then it is constantly moving trying to see something.I would prefer to be able to have it locked in one position until it sees a human and only then follow them with the panning. This also would save a lot of wasted battery.
