I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this though as I received a faulty one, returned it and the replacement I received was also faulty. Could be that the whole batch has something wrong with them. **Q: Is it normal for it to smell like burnt plastic after it’s first use?** A: I think I would ask Breville themselves about that because I had my first toaster replaced. The one I have now doesn't smell of anything but toasting bread (even on the first use) but the previous one had to be returned because I think it had an electrical fault. It smelled of burning and every time I tried to use it, the house fuse blew so it was unusable. It was replaced almost instantly though. If I were you, to be on the safe side, I'd either ask for a replacement or see what Breville say. **Q: Can anyone recommend a matching tea, coffee and sugar storage set that goes with this and the kettle? preferably small and in the white with silver tr** A: I got the black one twice of this and they both broke one within 3/4 days the other 3weeks **Q: Do slices of bread fit in the toaster completely or stick out the top when toasting?** A: That depends on the size of the slice you put in. A normal thick large sliced loaf fits in, you can just see the top, We use Warburtons seeded or Hovis Granary. The wide slots are great for thicker bread and crumpets which was one of the reasons we picked this model. The high lift feature is really useful for getting smaller items out without burning your fingers. Four slices is essential in our house because trying to do breakfast for the family two slices at a time was painful with our old toaster. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that the browning can be a bit uneven sometimes. One side comes out slightly darker than the other, so you have to experiment with the dial to find the sweet spot. It's not a dealbreaker but it is noticeable. Build quality feels solid, the white and chrome finish still looks good after months of daily use, and the crumb tray slides out easily for cleaning.
