I have had a lot of experience with LifeProof over the years and was very loyal to their brand. That was until after OtterBox bought them out. The LifeProof product does not last very long and their warranty process is absolute crap. So, I began looking for an alternative and came across the (relatively) new Pelican line of phone cases. As a member of the military, I've dealt with and handled Pelican products for years and have never been disappointed. Thinking on it, I only recall one failure of any type with a Pelican product. So, I trustingly put my money on this new case. I'm so far very impressed! I've had this case for a little over a month now and the case is superior to LifeProof in almost every way. It's lighter, slimmer, and feels much more durable for daily use and it's less expensive. My ONLY complaint with this case is that the sound coming out of the phone through the speakers is significantly reduced. With the LifeProof, if I placed my phone in the shower I could still hear music just fine. With the Pelican, not so much. This is in no way a deal-breaker for me, just a minor inconvenience. Phone sound and microphone seem unaffected as I have received no complaints from callers and I never get asked to repeat myself. The headphone connection is very similar to LifeProof and as such, an adapter is provided. The only part of the construction I'm concerned about is the charging port. It seals better than the LifeProof does, but I fear it may wear out with daily use. That remains to be seen.
