I installed the cap and tightened it. Then I removed the cap and found that the check valve was seated inside the cap. I tested the check valve by pressing the valve open and closed and it moved freely as it should, so I reinstalled the valve (seated in the cap). Next I turned on the water filled the chambers and fired up the washer. Presto! It works like new! They told me I needed to replace the pump unit for about $350. BS so I dove in to get to root cause. The plastic clear sight plug on my pressure wore the threads from all the vibration and it was oozing a slow, very slow oil drip.
