This type of solar oven can direct the sun to your meal, concentrating the heat where you need it be to cook your food. First of all, you need to use either clear cookware, or black or dark coloured pots. Shiny metal pots will just reflect the heat away instead of absorbing it. It needs some help to retain heat, even if the sun dips behind an occasional cloud. It comes with a big bag you can enclose your pot in, which will help retain the heat for longer- an inexpensive pack of turkey roasting bags can be used and reused when the one provided wears out, or, at home, a covered clear pyrex container will do an even better job. You also need to keep the solar oven facing the sun, adjusting its position every half hour or so, to cook in the fastest possible time. There are other ways to help, like choosing a sheltered position, using additional reflective materials to help concentrate the sun's rays, etc, but when you get it right, this is a brilliant, fun way to take advantage of a sunny day to cook yourself some delicious food.

**Q: The description says it comes with a cooking pot. The pictures show 2 different types of pot. What is the description of the pot that comes with it?**
A: There is no cooking pot included.  You get the cooker (yellow plastic-type material, with mirrored panels that you peel and stick on the yellow material before your fist use), a drawstring bag to carry it in, 2 oven baking bags and a cloth bag to carry the oven bags in.  It works best to use a dark, thinned walled covered pot, such as Graniteware.  Position the cooker to align with the rays of the sun.  Then you place the pot inside  one of the cooking bags.  Place a trivet (or something to raise the pot off the floor of the cooker) under the pot, place an oven thermometer on top of the pot, and seal the bag to retain the heat.

J'ai acheté ce produit pour compléter mon four solaire sungood de la même marque. Et éduquer mon fils par la même occasion sur l'énergie solaire. En plus de l'intéresser à ce sujet on prépare des goûters on fait sécher des rondelles de fruits pour en faire des chips, fondre du chocolat pour un goûter gourmand. Le fait qu'il y ait un thermomètre nous permet de comparer les journées avec moins de soleil et la durée de cuisson. Donc ça me permet de comprendre aussi l'utilisation de mon four solaire. Vous voulez payer moins d'électricité alors il faut apprendre à s'en passer quand on peut. Ceux qui s'intéressent à la cuisson solaire apprendront beaucoup avec ce kit pour débuter. Il peut faire office aussi de séchoir. C'est pour cela aussi que je l'ai acheté. C'est vraiment ludique et pratique. Ça peut être un premier pas avant le four solaire ça permet de se décider et d'apprendre en famille tout en se régalant!
