While I haven’t felled a tree with it, it has been quite useful for busting up stumps and chopping out roots. Despite the harsh treatment and working environment the blad holds up well. To be fair I clean, oil, and apply a fresh edge with a bastard file after each use - but the extra time has been worth it and easily made up with increased productivity.One of the elite axes may be better for other purposes but I just don’t see using a high end fellers axe to root and stump. There was no need to reshape it or thin it down. The Dayton pattern head is efficient and leads to accuracy. I haven't used it enough to determine how well the edge will hold up. I have only used it on softwoods, pine, fir, and cedar. So far so good. I also like that it is American made.
