It's realistic, raw, emotional and dramatic. The music is perfect, the acting phenomenal, and everything about it rings honest and true. This film teaches you that it doesn't matter if you're a soldier or a teacher or a child. You're a human being and trauma can affect you in extreme and painful ways, and you're usually not the only one to feel the effects of it. War is brutal, mental illness is brutal, and memories can bring you tears and anger at any moment.When all you have is family or friends, hold on to them and let them in. Just because those people were not with you during your trauma doesn't mean they can't support you and offer you comfort in your time of need. Shutting up and shutting everyone out is often the worst thing you can do. It's alright; you can get through this, just as you will get through other bad times in the future. If you feel fear, then it means you're taking a chance and that is the only real way to start healing.Brothers is a beautiful film and I couldn't take my eyes off it. I love Natalie Portman in this, and the actor who plays her daughter Lucy (Bailee Madison), is fantastic. I just saw her as a teenager in the horror movie Strangers: Prey at Night. Anyway, this is a dramatic movie I believe many people can relate to. I've never fought in the war but I can still relate and you might too.
