It's ok if this requires some apps/settings on the phone.** A: As per prior answers, you can set this up. I did this on a GS4 running lollipop. In Google Now settings, under Voice, enable Bluetooth headset to record audio. I use Google Play music, and didn't change anything there. With music playing, press the button once, this pauses the music. Then hold the button down until it beeps, you have to turn the phone back on to enable the bluetooth device to activate Google Now (from notifications). Repeat the process, now you can activate Google Now voice input with the screen off with the long-press (remembering to pause music with the initial press). I did have a project to enable my BMW BT, but I don't see the point now.
