Review: Nice novel but not the best by Rooney - I think everything Sally Roomey writes is worth reading. Having said that, Intermezzo is not a very dynamic and easy novel to read as the narrative tempo is quite slow and there is a lot of interior monologue that allows the reader to get a lot of psychological insight into the characters. I would recommend it but it is not my favourite novel by Rooney.

I think everything Sally Roomey writes is worth reading. Having said that, Intermezzo is not a very dynamic and easy novel to read as the narrative tempo is quite slow and there is a lot of interior monologue that allows the reader to get a lot of psychological insight into the characters. I would recommend it but it is not my favourite novel by Rooney.

Loved this book: such a clever style of writing and insight into the characters' thinking, you become extremely attached to them. Rooney describes the minutiae of life with such a keen eye that she makes them become both interesting and important to the story. She is one very talented delicate writer and most people will recognise part of themselves in her characters.
