## Overview

Dune: War for Arrakis is a 1-4 player asymmetric strategy board game featuring 129 detailed miniatures, 120 minutes of immersive gameplay, and unique faction tactics inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic Dune saga. Designed for ages 14+, it challenges players to control the desert planet Arrakis and its precious spice through strategic planning and dynamic combat.

## Description

Dune: War for Arrakis is a thematic strategy board game centered around the Desert War events from the acclaimed Dune novel by Frank Herbert. In this asymmetric game, House Harkonnen must dominate Arrakis with its troops and keep the spice flowing, lest they lose the support of the great powers of the Imperium. Meanwhile, the young Atreides leader-turned-messiah, Paul-Muad’Dib, must lead the Fremen rebels and wrestle with his prescient visions, finding his path between the fate of Arrakis, the inexorable jihad, and the destiny of the Kwisatz Haderach. While the Harkonnens rely on their vehicles, like Ornithopters and Carryalls, to move their forces and avoid the dangers of the desert, the Atreides harness desert power, riding the colossal Sandworms into battle. Each faction employs different strategies, complemented by their unique Leaders and sets of Planning Cards, to achieve their own victory conditions.

Review: Asymmetrical combat with a good grasp of the guerrilla - It’s a worthwhile game, but you’ll need to spend some time learning the rules before you play it. By “some” time I mean about an hour, because this game’s asymmetry means you’ll be explaining quirks of both sides. But once it’s happening, it’s great, and few games could capture the quirks of guerrilla warfare against large armies so well.
Review: Excellent game! - I was tempted to give the game 4 stars initially as the box came a bit banged up (not desertcart’s fault) and the player boards are actually a thin cardstock rather than cardboard, I know this isn’t the kickstarter edition but I would expect a little more quality from CMON… Having said this, the game is excellent and immersive, you’ll enjoy it whether you’re a fan of Dune or not.

I was tempted to give the game 4 stars initially as the box came a bit banged up (not Amazon’s fault) and the player boards are actually a thin cardstock rather than cardboard, I know this isn’t the kickstarter edition but I would expect a little more quality from CMON… Having said this, the game is excellent and immersive, you’ll enjoy it whether you’re a fan of Dune or not.
