How much can the type be manipulated?** A: Great question and most important when designing 'easy to read' documents and posters. The short answer is yes. The long answer is, "yes, but..." For horizontal kerning, click the top menu item "format" and select "Kern." That does space things out. Here's another way to do that: To horizontally kern, you select the top menu item "format" and then "character" and then "spacing." Under "spacing" you should NOT select "width," but instead the actual spacing on the spacing menu. Sorry, that sounds silly, but it is what it is. That will keep the size (point size) of the letters the same and just increase the space between them.For changing the space between lines, it's a bit more complicated. Complicated for me since (at work, Adobe CC makes it much easier). Again, at the top menu bar, select "Format" and then "Paragraph." From the left-side menu (looks like the Windows Explorer menu) select "alignment and spacing" option when you scroll down to the "Paragraph" options. Halfway down the menu, you'll see a "Line Spacing" button. Click it, and from the drop down menu select, "pointsize %". That's where you decide on the spacing between lines for the highlighted lines from your (auto-resizing) text-box.I know that it sounds complicated, but -- at work I use Macs, and at home I use Windows 7 Pro -- after a few times, you get used to it. In a perfect world, Serif will make it a lot easier with an Adobe-like menu. However, given the choice between a $49 dollar-a-month lease for CC, or (I bought PagePlus X7 direct from Serif for 50% off during their Thanksgiving Day sale) around $70 dollars (sale price) TO OWN IT FOREVER . . . I'm an old dog (60) but I can learn new tricks. So, yes, you can Kern and adjust line spacing. It just isn't as easy or intuitive as in InDesign. I hope this helps; let me know. **Q: Will page plus x7 do greeting cards.** A: Absolutely. It comes with a selection of various sizes and shapes of greeting cards plus you can make up your own. I usually start with a predesigned card and then make modifications to suit myself. **Q: does the cd come with its product key? I purchased it from another seller but could not use it , because just before installation it asked me for it.** A: No. Do not purchase! Sold with cd in sleeve without original oackaging so no product key. My plan for its use is for professional-looking brochures, newsletters and business cards for non-profit equine welfare organizations and rescues. This is my first try at desktop publishing, so the simple tutorials and user guides are awesome. They are easily accessed and understandable overall. Some functions (like mesh warp) are referenced peripherally only, so using this required time, trial, and error. Serif also offers a "community" forum, so you can search there to see if your problem or question has been addressed already. Without going into detail here, I had to contact Serif due to a program crash. I emailed Serif, exchanged emails, sent a copy of my project, and was asked to call to speak to a technician. Ultimately, the technician connected remotely (safely and securely) to my computer, went thru some diagnostics, and discovered the problem. This all resolved in less than a half hour. The techs were super understanding and patient and absolutely gave me the impression they were there to help me. Oh, I should mention that if you buy thru Amazon, you should keep a record of your key code sticker, as the technicians couldn't find me as easily as if I bought directly from Serif. But still it all went super smoothingly. Mainly I was looking for something to create professional-looking .mobi files with photos embedded as well as being able to take PDFs and reformat it into something I could actually read on my Kindle (again, the .mobi feature).
