As a Korean who has eaten through thousands of glass jars of kimchi throughout her lifetime, I know a good-quality glass jar when I see one. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with this one. The glass was thick and sturdy, with no discernible warping or thin spots. The plastic cap was also well-made and not flimsy, and created an airtight seal when I screwed it on tightly. I was worried that the jar would get damaged in transit, but Amazon did a good job with the packaging and it arrived in perfect condition. I've had this jar for months, constantly refilling it with a new batch of kimchi , and it has held up really well and still looks brand new. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a solid glass jar for storage or home fermentation.Looking through some of the other reviews, it looks like there might be some kind of quality control issue. I'm not sure if it's from the same manufacturer/distributor that I ordered from, but fyi I got my jar from Wiseman Trading, distributed by GlassBottleOutlet and fulfilled by Amazon.
