I followed the directions and they fit great, and look just fine. The black tape that joins the heel cap and the shoe is not actually sticky. You need to wrap it around the end of the shoe at least once, put the cap on and wrap the tape around the joining area of the cap and heel. You need to pull the tape tight, like shrink wrap. The tape will have some give to it. I am not going to lie and tell you that it looks beautiful, but I used this on a pair of older pumps that i wear with pants that come down to the ground anyway, so I don't care really. It is staying stong and I am hard on heels. I carry a purse and gym bag, and walk several block from gym to office, in wet Seattle. Give these a try. You have to take your time putting them on so they don't look dorky, but I put them on my heeled boots that lost their heels in a week, and these have stayed on for at least 2 months of wear and tear. Kind of amazing considering how easy they are to put on. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Saved my shoes! *by T***M on March 20, 2014* I was really looking forward to these because it meant saving a ton of money repairing my shoes, otherwise I'd have to replace them. It took a large to fit on my booties, which I was slightly expecting due to the reviews I had read myself. The caps are not flexible at all though- I had to jam them on the heel in order for them to stay on long enough for me to wrap them. The wrap is equivalent to electrical tape, by the way. So if you have any shoes other than patent this is going to stick out. I didn't care because I wanted my shoes back. So far, they've stayed on great. I wrapped them really tight and made sure to envelope the heel tip completely on the top.
