Once I did, the first try closing it and the hardware holding the top bent and broke despite this lid being MUCH lighter then the first! The hinge is now completely useless and I don't really trust it working with just one hinge. Overall, you get what you pay for. The first chest I did works but it still will not save any kids fingers once it starts closing. The second was just a complete and utter failure!
