Review: Unleashing Cinematic Magic With The Ultimate Pocket-Sized 360 Powerhouse - From the moment I first held the Insta360 ONE X, I knew I was dealing with a piece of technology that was going to fundamentally change how I capture the world. The sleek, elongated design fits perfectly in the hand, and the build quality immediately screams premium durability, which is exactly what I need when I am out in the field. Whether I am documenting a high-speed downhill ski run or walking through a complex construction site for documentation, the form factor is unobtrusive yet robust. I never feel weighed down, yet I have the confidence that this device can handle the rigors of an active lifestyle. The matte finish offers a secure grip, and the simple interface means I am not fumbling with buttons when the action starts; I just hit record and let the magic happen. The visual fidelity this camera produces is nothing short of breathtaking. Shooting in 5.7K resolution allows for an incredible amount of detail that holds up even when viewed on larger screens. The 18MP photos are crisp, vibrant, and capture dynamic ranges that I honestly didn't expect from such a compact sensor. But the real star of the show here is the FlowState stabilization. It is genuinely mind-bending. I have bolted this thing to handlebars, helmets, and even a drone, and the footage comes out looking like it was shot on a professional gimbal worth thousands of dollars. The horizon stays locked, the shakes are completely erased, and the result is buttery smooth, professional-grade video that needs almost no post-stabilization work. It creates a "flying" sensation in sports videos that immerses the viewer right into the action. One of the most liberating aspects of using the ONE X is the "shoot first, point later" workflow. Because it captures everything in 360 degrees, I never have to worry about framing my shot while I am in the moment. I can focus entirely on the activity at hand—whether that is nailing a trick or inspecting a specific structural element—knowing that I can choose the perfect angle later in the app. The invisible selfie stick feature is another absolute game-changer; the software automatically stitches the stick out of the footage, giving the impression that a drone is following me just a few feet away. This perspective adds a production value to my vlogs and action clips that simply isn't possible with traditional action cameras. Connectivity and workflow speed are often the Achilles' heel of high-resolution cameras, but the Real-Time WiFi transfer on this device is blazing fast. I can shoot a clip, transfer it to my phone, edit it, and share it within minutes without needing a laptop. The app itself is incredibly intuitive, offering sophisticated editing tools that make reframing 360 footage accessible to anyone. I have used the TimeShift feature to create hyper-lapses that speed up and slow down time to highlight key moments, and it adds such a creative flair to my content. For professional use cases like construction documentation, being able to virtually walk through a site and look in any direction during playback provides a level of detail and context that standard photos just can't match. This camera isn't just a tool; it is a complete creative studio in my pocket.
Review: OMG! what a great 360 camera! - I’ve done a lot of 360 work with units worth thousands of dollars. After shooting the videos with multiple cameras (each camera containing only a small portion of the image and syncing the files together then came the part involving in stitching these multiple videos together and set up the horizon. Hours of work all for an 8k 360 video. This a great 360 unit for home use, real estate or another general purpose. Has a built in water mark on the bottom for identification, logo and helps to hide any part of the footprint of a stand. Stabilization is a great feature. You can walk about and the unit holds it horizon as no stitching is needed. You can record video and stills by holding the unit or thru the app on your iPhone, (I’m guessing android too) software is updated often. Other better know makers charge a bit more and have kept their software up to date. If you are in need of a 360 camera stop looking because this is it. I have had no problems with it. Make sure you buy the right micro SDcards for it, after all it recording 5.7k footage. It does record audio but if you want better audio you’ll need an external recorder that you can lay in audio in post. Buy an extra battery and tripod with a small foot print that the watermark will cover. Comes with lots of cables to connect with but they are short. I was surprised when I was able to broadcast live 360 on Facebook when hooked to my iPhone! It loses a bit of clarity in the process. I’m sure some will have a problem, don’t understand it or have issues and will give it only one star but.... with my knowledge and experience with 360 I give it high ratings. Over all for what it does, what it can do, easy of use, craftsman ship, quick learning curve and price how can I not give it 5 starts.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do I buy it?**
A: You solved the riddle to cross the bridge, then defeated an orc who carried enough gold to fund your purchase. A farmer came along and give you a ride into town. Along the way you and the farmer's daughter fell deeply in love and decided to marry. The ceremony took place high on the rim of a volcano where the white goat was offered as sacrifice. See the dramatic events unfold before you, you decided to hike into town to buy a means of capturing these events. Presenting the gold taken from the slain orc, you as the shopkeeper for an Insta360 One X.

**Q: Is it water resistant enough to use during a snow storm or would you need to buy a waterproof case? Will be using on a back country ski trip**
A: I would strongly recommend purchasing a case. Not to mention as RB stated, the camera has two bulging lenses that will catch droplets. Now if Insta could offer a simple venture case for the camera, that would be great, but instead this disfunctional company cannot fulfill venture case orders over 3 months after purchasing the camera. I truly regret buying this camera, I hate supporting a company who cannot meet demand on something so simple as a case (other than their overpriced dive case), you might think that a simple case is not critical but when you have two bulging lenses, it is very much needed as you cannot even set your camera down without worrying about scratching the bulging lenses. Wished I would have used common sense and purchased a Gopro 7 instead!!

**Q: When i import video files to studio and play them they are all laggy. anyone else having that same issue? or is it my onex that's the issue?**
A: It depends on what the resolution of the video is and how fast your computer is. If your capturing 5.7k files you need a pretty decent machine to handle the workload.

**Q: What is the largest sd card that this can use? (in gb)**
A: 400gb sandisk works fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ tiny pack with a big punch
*by C***S on April 26, 2019*

After owning and using quite a bunch of 360º cameras I was really skeptical about the "next big thing" in the 360º realm. The last trap I fell into was believing that the Madventure was decent and boy, that was bad. This time I was wrong and the buzz was right, this is a really good product. If you want to skip all the details I’d recommend this camera and even more if you get it in a bundle and save money on it, like the ones already with the invisible stick, Camera+card or ALL but the kitchen sink (search Amazon to find those). I purchased the camera with my own funds, I have used it for several hours of video and multiple photos. I am a photographer and videographer and I use this device for interviews, behind the scenes videos, drone footage, hyperlapse and personal vlogs. The following is my honest impression and portrays the result of many hours of shooting and post. OVERALL: this is a great camera for its price and purpose. Image quality is very good, the software is easy to use and free, stabilization and other advanced features are amazing. SIZE: extra compact, the lenses and focal planes are really close and this results in great portability with superior stitching. I am still to find a fault on video and photo stitching, even with close subjects. SOUND: the camera offers 2 microphones for stereo capture, but no audio input. I wonder if a cleverly designed audio cable could be hidden using the invisible monopod, that would be amazing for better audio quality. The sound is ok, worse than a dedicated recording device, but still usable. It would be amazing if we could pair a Bluetooth microphone… but that’s just me getting greedy and trying to adequate it to my workflow, as I do interviews and BATTERY: it is not long-lasting with 1200mAh. If I could complain about anything this would be the only concern, it does not last long. But then I looked at the size of the kit and remembered it was to be expected. There is a good solution though since the Insta360 OneX does come with a replaceable battery and that makes it easy to carry some to replace on the go. THat is actually going to be necessary if you plan on doing video or taking many pictures during long periods without recharging. My optimal solution is multiple batteries and a double charger like this one https://amzn.to/2ZoIjhw. On my experience, I could make it last around 1 hour if using with Wi-Fi constantly on, about 4h if I kept wi-fi off and used it sparingly and without the phone connected. It charges fast, around 20-30 minutes from zero to full with a fast charger. STABILIZATION: Whoah! I was impressed by the results from the 6-axis gyro-based image stabilization, especially comparing with the lame MadVenture and other bad examples I’ve had in the past. I recorded smooth videos while walking on very bad terrain. As I moved and inevitably shook it quite good the videos still came buttery smooth. I am impressed and very happy with the results so far, I do think it is just as good as the amazing stabilization from the GoPro7 https://amzn.to/2XvNFFV. STITCHING: As I stated before, I have only found minor issues with the automatic stitching. It is very easy to stitch using the phone app, but I do prefer to put the card in a fast card reader and copy to my workstation, this way I have more options and control over the videos. I do not use the app to edit, but it is really simple and intuitive to use and make overcapture videos. EDITING: overcapture videos are very easy with the free app. You can also use most non-linear editing software (Final Cut, Premiere…) to edit natively and that is a game changer for me. No more need to stitch using my phone and then transfer to a messy After Effects workflow! ENVIRONMENTAL SEAL: it is not waterproof, you need a special case to protect it or even dive. That said and on your own risk, it is possible to use it in “splashy situations” without an issue. I’ve recorded videos near a waterfall without issues, I just tried to protect the open USB port and all was good. I take no responsibility if drown your camera, do it at your own risk. DESIGN: I found it to be great, functional and even pretty. Materials look and feel good, it is as premium as it should be expected with the price tag. The tiny LCD is a welcome bonus, you can actually get relevant data from it. The simple 2-button interface gets the simple tricks done, for anything fancier you should use the app. LEDs keep you aware of what is happening and most important: if it is still recording! The only issue I found with the design is that you cannot replace the microSD card without removing the camera from a tripod. That is not an issue for most people, only for those capturing many hours of interviews and needing to keep the camera without any movement. The easy solution was buying bigger cards, up to 128Gb. Size is 115 x 48 x 28 mm and it weighs 115g. IMAGE QUALITY: the lenses are quite fast (f2.0) and capture good light. Photo resolution is OK for consumer use with 18Mp and DNG capture, video resolution is nice at 5.7k. I write "nice" even though it is probably the best resolution on a consumer/prosumer camera to date because gorgeous 360º video requires 8k and more, but that would add bulk and a couple of thousand dollars to the equation. Higher frame rates would also be nice, making 5.7k slow motion even more amazing than it already is. Again, 5.7k at 30 fps and 100mbps is not shabby, it is just grumpy-old-me remembering the results from the Pro cameras I’ve tested and used. Very low light situations are a challenge for small sensors and this is no exception, image is not great under very low light. Even though ISO goes to a high 6400 I’d keep it as low as possible, never raising it over 400. CONTROLS: You can (and should) set sort-of-manual controls for ISO and shutter speed. If you want the best quality possible you should use the LOG mode and edit later to achieve the most from the footage and achieve the best result. HDR video is gorgeous and makes it simpler but you lose some control over the process, as it is all done automatically by the software. CONNECTIVITY: stupid-proof connection to any “moderately smart”phone, just connect to the Wi-Fi and open the app. The app is free and you can easily find it on the app store of your preference (Windows, Apple or Android). Downloading images is super-fast, videos can last a while but they are HUGE and that is to be expected. Consider connecting with the supplied cable to speed up the process and save battery. 5G WiFi, Bluetooth LE 4.0, MFI-certified lightning connector SOFTWARE: App and desktop version (Insta 360 Studio) are easy to use and intuitive, they do require some time to process long videos. Keep in mind we are talking Gigabytes of data; all that quality needs a big room to fit in. All versions are free to download on insta360's website or your preferred app store. FANCY STUFF AND FEATURES: - data Overlay: you can embed speed, elevation, incline angle, heading, coordinates… to your footage. - Freecapture and overcapture: film in 360 and present it as a regular video. You can change the view angle as if multiple cameras filmed the scene. - Picture in picture: you can capture a video as a smartphone does, with the image in front and a tiny box with your image as the action unfolded before you - Hyperlapse, timeshift, slow motion - Live streaming to Facebook and Youtube (I have not tested any other options, if they exist). You can even change the view live and make it a tiny planet or other viewing alternatives you fancy. - built-in GPS: data is stored in each capture - Loops: great IF you like the silly and annoying boomerang style - Wireless VR Viewing MY PREFERRED ACCESSORIES: - The included pouch is a must have and must use item. It protects the protruding and exposed lenses from getting scratched, not from bumps and hits. If you drop the camera in it damage is still possible. - extra batteries: mandatory if you plan to record multi-minute videos or capture many photos over long periods of time without recharging. - The invisible stick is great, easy to open and close, disappears from the images as magic. You can achieve an amazing “flying camera effect” using it. I would recommend that you purchase it as the second accessory.
